Un Chien Andalou was genius for being made in 1920s. So many Freudian references in a short film, I love it.
Also check out Land without Bread, his documentary on the underdeveloped region of Las Hurdes in the early 1930s, it was used as Republican propaganda during the Civil War.
And then the movies he made about the sexual corruption of religion and social class are brilliant too. Viridiana is the novice nun that gets liberated, and Tristana with her sugar daddy. Of course we also have to mention the gem of The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie.

yes yes, he talks about all those films in his book.. he was really something. Check out his book, it's very interesting (My last sigh). BTW, I did catch Land without Bread, it was recorded on the same tape as Un chien andalou. Nice
So far.. I've caught Dogville and found it lacking substance.. the set up of the movie everyone so enthusiastically talks about is a simple theatrical scene on camera. The plot is not very catchy either. I liked the ending though. I couldn't believe I sat through 3h of that.
Also, I watched Io non ho paura, it's very cute, innocent.. It's got also a twisted ending. I liked it a lot. However, keep in mind that I'm very partial to italian cinema.. Federico Fellini and ragazzi
I still haven't had the chance to go check out Kill Bill 2 but I really can't wait. Maybe today, it's Tuesday
