No, cashman should NOT leave AROD the option to walk away. if it comes to the point cashman wasn't doing his job. Right now, if cashman isn't on the phone hammering out a contract with Boras, he isn't doing his job. That is priority number 1.
As for clemens, what does it matter if it was pro rated? He received 18.5 M, which comes out to a little over $1M a start. And that's not including the 7.5M that was tacked on because of the luxury tax.
Even if arod was paid $35M a year, that would be about 216K a start. A bargain compared to Clemens. But the real cost of a $35M contract to the yankees for the first 3 years is something around $27M. So effectively, the yankees wouldn't be paying more than ARods current contract, its just that the texas portion would be in addition. At 27M the yankees would be paying about 166K a game. A serious bargain compared to Clemens. |
well said.
a-rod should retire as a yankee imo, what better club to break all types of records and be able to be in the same sentence as the yank legends.
and LOL @ clemens. waste of mad loot imo i was dyin when they announced he got cut cuz he couldnt get the job done...lol if youre young leaving cuz you pulled something is sympathetic. not when youre 45 and been wack.
