I'd hate to see 300 people in there. It certianly doesn't look 1/2 the size of the dendy. And it's max license is 600.

On the topic of venues - whatever happened to Zen/Candy's apartment/china white/....... ??? Ive always considered Zen one of my favourite venues, and i belive its capacity was around the 300-400 mark.... i often thought this might be a good venue for Halcyon if the boys decided to move from Gas...... but whats happened to it??? Is it still operating as Candy's apartment??? is it still owned/run by the same people that owned it when it was Zen??? (if so i say we DEFINITELY do not go near it!)...

We had 320 people turn up to Icebox in January (Which was awesome). I believe it would max out around 380. Note this is not all 380 in the club at one time. This is a rotating crowd. As in people come and go e.t.c.

I think about 250 would be the absolute maximum in the club at any one time. That would be quite uncomfortable though

Therefore the club capacity is max 250(or perhaps less).

U could have a rotating crowd of over 1000 a night, if each DJ brough over 250 guest with them.

Nice one Stama!

I think a meeting could be on the cards. The two-three things that have been thrown around is/are Marketing, our own club night, and sponsorship. All those issues are time consuming.

The original issue, was/is
"Why does Sydney suck so much for trance!" (SIC). It appears everyone's now on board for starting their own night. With no fresh ideas on here to attract a new crowd. Seems quite funny.

Caveat Emptor is the phrase coming to my mind (even tho it's not exactly correct).

Of course I'm keen for any meeting

that is a good point you make about sustainablity, is one thing to have a one off night going well but to have a club full every week is another thing ...

I don't think 'the gays' necessarily like trance more than you or anybody else, but because certain gay orientated trance DJ's have such influence in the Sydney dance scene (as far as I know) they are able to fill a venue easily, by marketing, word of mouth (etc) and screw the masses and play whatever the hell they want. Gay parties are all about dance, & you get certain DJ’s that play trance at them, and yer, i guess it seems then that gay people seem to like trance more than the very broad straight dance scene that has to cater for so many different tastes.

Take Ruby for example (rubydance.com.au )he is always good for trance, but only does play at gay venues and it is understandable that most trance addicts wouldn't want to go to a gay venue, which is fair enough!
I went to the Ruby party last night in a last minute decision and was totally blown away by the quality of trance he was playing. Everything from uplifting, vocal and hardcore towards the end, enhanced by about 4 or 5 Oracle lasers spinning throughout the night, crystal clear sound and amazing lighting n effects. And no one even tried to grab my arse, just picked a quiet spot on the floor and danced for friggin hours.
But yeh other than going to that, Sydney does indeed suck for trance. Move to Toronto, I am.
