Because he was there since the beginning and saw it all as it was happening? He was right though. And so are you in one respect. A large portion of Trance has evolved, but not for the better. Don't feel the need to reply to this post but if you do i'll be glad to respond.

Unless you've been listening to trance since 1995 or earlier you have no frame of reference from which to judge whether the music has evolved for the better or worse. Researching this period can only shed a small light on the experience that someone with the experienc has.

The whole definition of classics argument is kinda pointless in this thread since the whole purpose of it was to list tunes which you DON'T like or consider a classic, despite others doing so.

Walhalla for instance, I fucking hate it and would call it anything but a classic. However loads of people here like it & refer to it as a classic, which is why I mentioned it.

If someone then went on to flame me for listing the tune as a classic I'd be quite amused tbh.. seems what's happened here really

What kind of fool statement is that? You can't judge the new without knowing about how it all began. Well you can, but it wouldn't be a very smart decision.

Many people who delve into trance over the last five years just don't realize why it's called trance in the first place. Sure, many of the rhythms and melodies that are produced may send you into a euphoric trance, but initially trance music was about sending you into a hypnotic trance. Psy does this as well.

By not recognizing this fact is how many newbies to trance music don't have a concept of what trance is (or was meant to be, in any event).
