Yeah Paris is underrated in my view - I first came across him when he posted on the Public Enemy forum and asked Chuck D if he could be involved with their upcoming album. Chuck accepted and PE ended up contributing to Freedom off sonic Jihad, which I really liked; Dead Prez came across really well lyrically IMHO. The new PE album this year should be amazing as well, especially with Paris behind the boards.
The only thing that gets to me with Paris is his insistence on the the whole 'The US government orchestrated 911!' thing, heh. Broadly speaking I share a fair bit of his political outlook - but that does tend to turn me off. If you can put that aside however his stuff is really innovative and fresh. His Guerilla Funk label has some interesting artists signed to it as well, T-Kash from the Coup, Concious Daughters, MC Ren and so forth.

That's the same genre classification principal as someone who thinks that all trance is like Ian van Dahl and Lasgo
i think people r too narrow! they are not thinking about other music that is included in that or other genres! people need to explore to know the full concept of a genre! and find all that great sounds of inspiration......
