At the risk of sounding dated, a lot of the more sad stuff I like is older. One of my more favorite sub-genres. Here are some of the songs I can remember without looking too hard:

Chicane - Red Skies
Chicane - No Ordinary Morning
Chicane - Autumn Tactics (Thrillseekers Remix)
Probably a lot more Chicane too as well, esp. the downtempo stuff
Jase FOS - Do What You Want (Infusion Remix) -- the first time I listened to Holden's Balance CD, I went back and played this song four times straight before going onto the next track.

Deepsky - Ghost (Original Mix)
Max Graham feat. Jessica Riddle - Gone
Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek (Enmass Remix) -- though to be honest, it's a lot more happy than the original.
Departure - Without You Near
Above & Beyond - Can't Sleep
Blackwatch & Quivver - Loveless (Original Mix)
Britney Spears - Everytime (Above & Beyond Remix)
"and this song's my suff'ring..." (I think)
Delerium - Innocente (Markus Schulz Remix) -- this song sounds like a despairing race towards doing something drastic. It's haunting, but fast enough to be action-packed.

Ray Wilson - Yet Another Day, which is complimented very well by Conjure One - Center of the Sun. I don't know if that is meant to be a sad song or not... but it hits me everytime.
