Nope...Americans love their guns way too much

alright its not often i come into a serious thread and post something serious but today i would like to give "VIVID"S POINT OF VIEEEEEEW"

well all i hear when this subject comes up is "why havent they sent any aid?!?!? wha the hell is going on!??! wheres the army wheres the red cross wheres this wheres that?!?!"

well i have a pretty logical answer for all of that.

here are my two reasons.

#1 natural disasters boost the economy. The more damage /the more people killed = the more jobs contracted out during the aftermath, thus boosting the american economy which lately has seemed to be pretty crappy.

reason #2

The American government has always been a bunch of oppurtunists. whenever something hits at home the peoples view is only at home. what our question should be is what is happeneing around the world right now?!?

i mean lets take the columbine incident for example. our view was directed at the problem at home. meanwhile, on the same day as the columbine incident The Us sent an air strike and blew the fuck out of croatia and we only found out about it months and months later.

The US tends to be oppurtunists like that. so while our views are totally directed at home, What is actuially happening in Iraq and how many ppl are being killed?

thank you That is all

No, it means that Marshal Law is in effect in New Orleans. Anyone caught with a weapon who doesn't drop it and raise their hands on their order will be shot to death by the police or National Guard.

That's the way it works.

I have to agree...to an extent...americans do tend to hold themselves to a higher regard then others...but to an extent I think we all do that.

First of all, the government should have been proactive instead of reactive in this matter and I am sure there will be disaster plans set up now that will address this. That being said, since they are reactive in this situation I can understand that it takes time to gather all the supplies and man power needed for an operation of this size. I don't think the government has done a bad job here other then the fact they are being reactive instead of proactive.

I agree with your reason number one for sure. This disaster will have a huge spike on the american economy for at least the next 12 months....the only problem is....by that time people will have forgotten the 10s of billions of dollars that the government is spending upfront. The economy will look good in about 6 months but the debt being taken on by the government is going to be disasterous. I can't wait till the next president gets to take a look at the books and sees how badly Bush has fucked the country over with the debt he will leave behind.

Poor rationale there, especially if you donated to the tsunami effort. Or do you think that all 250k (or was it more?) tsunami victims were good upstanding people?

You don't see the good people of New Orleans because that doesnt make the news. All you see is the looters and criminals. To paint the whole city based on what youve seen on the news is childish, at best.

That's because the good people of New Orleans left when they were told to do so.

How can you possibly think that this disaster will BENEFIT the economy, Vivid Boy?

According to news reports that i have read, Louisiana supplies roughly 25% of the USA's energy needs through oil. Think about this for a minute. Now, this hurricane has completely destroyed the oil production in the area. Petrol prices all around the country have already risen dramatically. Almost every sector of the economy is going to be hit by the rising energy costs.

This is going to have a huge impact on the US economy and experts are already predicting that growth is going to slow to a crawl. The damage bill from Hurricane Katrina is already expected to reach US$50 billion.

You seem to have a pretty distorted view of economics my friend......

when i heard thousands of ppl were directed to the superdome and then were left there without any food, water, or medicine. they could of drop lifted something for them or sent buses to move to a location where they could be taken care of. instead they were left there to fend for themselves or die.
