I used to live right where they're expecting landfall of the eye. My mother still does, but she drove to Gainsville.
9-14+ feet of storm surge, plus wave action, in an area where most everything is less than eight feet above median tide, if that. Flat, flat, flat. It'll go fast, but it's not going to be good.
The last direct hit to Collier county was hurricane Donna in 1960. And basically no one lived there then.
