Texas had the shit kicked out of it from about 1890-1910. Hurricanes seem to run in regional cycles, and that was Texas' turn.

In the 1930s Florida was hit over and over, most notably the Labor Day and Miami-Okeechobee storms.

In the 1980-90s it was the southeast Atlantic seaboard; Carolinas, mostly.

Seems the new century has shifted Florida back into the crosshairs.

Very true, we all joked about that. They bought the house 4 years ago & only used it as a winter home until now. They first had Rita, but most of it missed em. But now they are right in Wilmas path.
