maybe we germans play boring football but normally we are very succesfull @ tournaments

and wheeeeeeeew Nowitzki won the 3-point-shoot-out

Nate's dunk over Webb was amazing so his win is OK.

If AI would have done the behind the board dunk in the final he would have won.

t-max contemplating retirment ?

espn is saying that he is currently fighting "mental deamons", and possibly putting his career aside for awhile to fight them ?

i don't know about you guys, but i think he is suffering from "barry sanders syndrome" ... great player .. on awful teams .. your thoughts ?

T -mac considered retiring his last year with the magic because he couldn't figure out the zone defense....I hope he and his gimpy back retire...he is a great scorer but much like Kobe ,he makes no one around him better

i give credit to t-mac and what he does, but quite frankly, t-mac isn't known for his defensive skills, which is key to a star player's game cred . i don't get it . van gundy is a defensive minded guy, yet he can't teach t-mac how to play defense ?

surprisingly, the east beats the west tonight with a wade tip-in . 3 things i have just found out over the weekend during the all star break :

1- lebron james has clearly grown up now. he has really good range on his jumpers, and can run the floor really well. really, right now, i think lebron james is a better finisher than kobe. we just don't see it often , since lebron is still immature with his decision making skills from time to time. howver, what i do like about lebron over kobe is one big stat : lebron = 4 triple doubles . kobe = 0. kobe's 81 is great, but lebron's 4 triple doubles come into notice in the future, when his team is actually winning games .

2- yao has "sneakily" become the west's best center. he is a good basketball player, and is in my eyes the best basketball player ever over 7 foot 2 inches tall ( was rik smits 7' 3" ??) . anyways, if yao is considered that "good" , and shaq is the east's "best center" right now, the center position is really very bleak at the moment . marcus camby could have made the all star position as center if he didn't get hurt, and ilgauskas should have been elected, but bosh is awesome too .

3- in the next 3 to 5 years, think about this east-west starting lineup :

east - dwayne wade, lebron james, chris bosh, emeka okafor, dwight howard, gilbert areans, michael redd, jj reddick (he's going to end up in ny), tj ford, jermaine o'neal, ben gordon, tayshaun prince ( when billups and the wallaces start to age -- they're in their 30s, prince and hamilton will step up)

west - chris paul, kobe bryant, yao ming, amare stoudemire, carmelo anthony, kirilenko, rashard lewis, boris diaw ( will become very popular once marion and nash starts aging ), david west ( just for hornets purposes . i think he's a great player, especially in the low post), tony parker

and add some more new draft picks ahead .... hmm ?

Ilk in my opinion is the most underrated player in the NBA. He plays hurt all the time. He's a center who shoots his teams technical free throws.

I'd like to Lebron's numbers w/o a center of his caliber to occupy the middle.

Most underrated player of all time in my opinion, Rod Strickland. He led the league in assists and never made an all star game.

And they should have ended the dunk contest with a tie instead of overtime.

Steve Francis is yet another undersized shooting point guard that can't shoot. Does that remind you of anybody else on the team already *cough *cough Stephon Marbury? I don't get it... Isiah puts together a team worse than Ben's fantasy basketball team. What is his rhyme or reason for these moves? Just because he has a name... ok.... get him.

Another little guy that can't play defense. Should work wonders with Larry Brown's philosophy. Allen Iverson is not in this conversation.. that's not even in the same ballpark.
