england were pretty ordinary, the forward movement was pretty luckluster and only on a couple of occasions did they look really threatening up forward most of the time they mucked around with it across the back. why they persist with crouch is beyond me, if they keep him in the side when rooney returns there is something seriously wrong with the england coaching staff.
it sounds crazy but martin tyler summed it up really well last night, with his comments about rooney's ability and talismanic qualities for the team and to think they are talking about a 20 year old being the key to englands success.
after seeing that game i dont think gerrard and lampard can operate effectively together in midfield at their full capabilities. if they both play central midfield, gerrard is forced to play a defensive role and he is far more suited to a floating midfield almost second striker role.
