sure, but think of it this way. the financial successes of our scene have allowed you the opportunity to see Lee Burridge twice in the span of a month.

The fact Burridge is coming back is because of his 365 Tour, where he plays multiple clubs in a city within a short time period. I've known about the FW+TiL gig combo since September, so I doubt it's money that got him to TiL, since he's played FOUR times in a month in places like Denver, CO for this tour. Same goes for Sydney. I think if our scene wasn't so mainstream/money-driven, and more music-focused, he'd play here 4 times in a month too.

But really, beyond Footwork and the Zone (before he played there and got told to play something else), there really isn't any other club in the city that I can really see him playing at.

Meh, I think this is a rarity. Very few DJs play for small promoters then go to TIL or vice versa.

no more f'n TIL crap in the Burridge @ Footwork review thread

people just need to put their money where their mouth is.

if you don't like the venue and/or don't like the promoter or club's choice for an opening act, it's simple...DON'T GO. You can also email the DJ's management, and the DJ themself, with your feedback.

This isn't some hick town with one club where you either go there or you don't go out. Toronto has WAY too many options for someone to feel that they have to 'settle'.

Didn't they ban you on TRIBE?

This particular aura can be found in the gait of a beautiful girl. In her smile, in her soul, the way she makes every rotten little thing about life seem like it's going to be okay. The supermodels, Willy? That's all they are. Bottled promise. Scenes from a brand new day. Hope dancing in stiletto heels.

edit: (in this specific case, I imagine that M&S are opening for their draw, not their diversity. A formula which is obviously making TiL lots of cash)

Sure, in regards to maximizing draw, M&S are the best choice. But, I think Chris means it would make more sense musically if they had a techno headliner opening for a techno DJ.

Chris is expressing his preference as a customer of This is London. He is not advising management on what DJs to book. In discussions about opening DJs, clubbers like Chris only care about how the opening DJ compliments the main act. They do not care if booking another DJ is a smarter business decision, nor should they care. They are the customers and therefore care about value. They are not owners of the business, so they do not care about revenue (ie. draw).

The fact that booking a certain DJ is a smart business decision is not a sufficient reason why clubbers should cease to continue complaining about the decision, or like the decision.
