when the puck hit his skate, there was no kicking motion. you can clearly see in the replays that he turned his foot to redirect the puck. he just redirected it. the "follow through" if u wanan call it that, was after it hit. there was no way he couldve kicked it in when the puck was going at that speed.
neil was fortunate enough that he didnt hit him fully and McDonald eluded his hit. there would have been no doubt in my mind that there woudlve been a penatly right away and maybe even an ejection from the game if McDonald had been injured.
