Yay lets all jump on the bandwagon...

Honestly, whats the point of the essential mix? I'm going to say self promotion and increasing popularity of an artist.

This shit reminds me of what went down in the NYTA section not too long ago

*sigh*

Of course it's about self promotion. ANY gig is about self promotion, or at least tied into it in some way, but that is besides the point.

The point is that there are tasteful ways of going about it and...not so tasteful ways.

Inundating your track selection with your own productions...not tasteful.

It may be an effective way of demonstrating the breadth and scope of your discography, but it says very little as to who you are in terms of DJ'ing...unless it actually is who you are in terms of DJ'ing, in which case you'll have a whole other set of problems to deal with.

yeah. especially if you're a DJ.

and let me tell you, those problems can get pretty serious... i had this one friend once who did something like that, he died.

and there was this other guy who attempted the same thing.... but died 1/2 way through.

Once again, a humorous, and thoughtful parody...nothing of an actual response.

At least you're entertaining about it.

to be 100% honest here, me neither. but for what it's worth, at least sometimes it's kinda entertaining.

wtf do you want him to say? He's a dj and play track to entertain people, and I believe the result is there.

Do you tell people at your job that they suck in what they do for a living, when they are definitely doing a good job?

To be honest, I don't like your music. But what I hate more is the people who are hating just because it's not a "real" dj set. Well, as far as I know, he is not a DJ, he is a producer, so it's normal that he will play his tracks. When the radio gave him the chance to make an EM, they probably knew what would be the result.

What is the problem of all the bashers here to just pass by this set? I didn't listen to it because I knew it would be crap. But do I have to write how bad it is? What's the point? Growing your e-ego? 14 pages of meanless wanking.

I never said he sucked at what he did for a living- I'm not making any remarks concerning his DJ'ing beyond this one essential mix (I've never even heard one of his sets!).

Yes, he's a DJ, and DJ's entertain people, but there are different approaches to this, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with critical remarks concerning these different approaches.

Why does this concept seem to elude people?

By the way, I like how you stated so matter-of-fact that he was DEFINITELY doing a good job, as if it was something that everyone happens to accept.

Anyway, could someone lock this thread already? Yet another 15 page Deadmau5 thread, and it's very depressing (and I'm pretty sure even Deadmau5 would agree).
