I think you will find that alot of people that were into it from 97 -2003 were relatively clued up and are now well aware and just as disheartend with the state of things. They say things come back around but I can NEVER imagine trance peaking again.. not since everybody making it seems to be mainly interested in the money it could make with commercial appeal and branding. There are brilliant progressive house producers out there and people in general still making awesome tracks- I have great hopes for these people but with regards to the state of trance within the last 5 years there definitely isnt any hope. As for any new comers to the 'scene' who want to have an idea about trance its pretty sickening unless you are lucky enough to know someone who has a clue. The way that trance as a genre is portrayed within the charts is the most putrid thing ive ever heard.

oh c'mon... do you think trance producers in 1999-2003 made great trance tracks for the sake of pure art? we all need to eat, you know. maybe electronic music has run out of fresh ideas... trance was cool in the beginning because it was a new genre of music with lots of free space for creativity and lots of great sounds to be discovered.. maybe its just the end of the life cycle of a particular genre

This is not a criticism or compliment, merely fact.

Ahahahaha, but not for the right reasons at all.

Trust me, trance producers (and producers in general) from the 'golden age' were making WAY WAY more money than the guys are today. One veteran producer (i'll keep it confidential) I know has told me his sales are about 1/5 what they used to be.. and he's making chart toppers now, just like he was then.

I would argue that there are MORE people in it now for the love of what they do.. technology bringing producing to the masses.

Trance will peak again, just like variations of every other genre will come back around.. it all happens in cycles.

There's nothing wrong with making some income for your hard work and creativity. I actually wish the best wealth for those producing so they can continue to upgrade and grow with the new software/instruments/technology.

However, I think there's little respect to be given to those who create tracks just to cash in, giving those who do take the music as art a bad name. It's true that no one is to say if Tiesto or any artist is producing for the sake of some bucks or passion, but you can't blame people for assuming things by looking at the artists income influenced actions or half ass uninspired productions.

ive lost count of the amount of M.I.K.E productions that have been ripped off by the likes of scooter and topped the charts.

The advantage of adding effectively an extra letter to a 5 character name is just too much popularity to bear. WHAT OTHER DJ CAN HAVE SO MUCH POWER IN ONLY 5 LETTERS!!!
