Just so we can be clear, it is NOT space choosing to not announce it. I can guarantee they do NOT have a clue who Paul is bringing with him on that night. If they knew, they would not be allowed to tell but they would have a few people start spreading rumors. The artist in question is bigger than Filo and Peri in PVD's mind. Remember, PVD's agency made the first flyer for space to use.
It has got to be #2 mostly. If it is a really huge artist which I think it is, you would not want to let the public know in advance. It could cause a crowds to show up in droves ruining any chance to attempt to get in even with a presale. You would then be blaming space for announcing such a huge artist and making a crowd appear that was unmanageable.
The way it is now, everyone who took the gamble will get a "special" or not so special treat. Depends on your tastes.
To add to it, if it were an extremely big artist and the club advertised it, they would be paying a lot more than they are right now for the gig and your ticket prices would be sky high.
The best way to describe it, remember when Tiesto played as "The King" at some pool party 3 WMC's ago or something. The pool got him much cheaper by not announcing or letting rumor get out until the day of the show. |
Well this is why I am going both days
