A frat brother of mine who's a cop in TO once told me on a personal level that they don't like strangers taking unwanted pictures of them as much as you and I. They're human after all. In this scenario, they have no idea who the taker is or why. Cops through their badge numbers are traceable, and like you and I... if a stranger takes a picture of you, and you don't know their motive, then have your name, and may be able to find your home, and this person is a 'peaceful protester (and we all know just how peaceful they are )', then yeah I'd be worried about my family too. Not an easy job for them. Not all cops are assholes. |
there were no cops in my picture. it was a photo of a banged up car that had been in an accident (with no cops around until i took the picture and he comes running over).
As for taking pics of cops, they may not like it but its part of their job. Just like how the public gets filmed and photographed by cops routinely. You can take a pic of them legally and they cant do anything about it although im sure they will try their lovely intimidation tactics to convince you otherwise.

no one claims that a cop's job is easy. But trampling on citizen rights in order to take shortcuts and using intimidation, and the ignorance of the populace to do it is not right.
The reason most people dont know their rights is that they are never taught them. Also, its very difficult to know the law since its written in legalese and tucked away behind a lot of fluff. This is all done for a reason.
