I'll be honest the thing that attracted me to blueman wasn't even his melodies. The mans basslines is what initially attracted me to him. Same with Kandi and Nickey. He was just another talented artist imo who knew how make quality driving basslines. And after studying them/trying to create a similar sound month after month I realized pretty fastly that they are not easily recreated.

And if you think so then go ahead and make one yourself and show it to the board. They are articulate, clear, energetic, and layered intelligently. I'm likely obsessed with running basses but a good one is not easy to make, and blueman spits them out left and right like its a joke to him. For all the people who dissed blueman in this thread, I'd really really like to see what you consider good trance music. Is it just anything w/out epic melodies? Because thats fuckin lame. Whether or not you think they're easy, or that you know how the chords work, you can't do one yourself, just admit it. And a lot of other artists seem to cop out to the more minimal styled shit. So before this thread ends, I just wanted to say one more time blueman rocks.

And maybe aNYthing can enlighten us on what good trance is as he seemingly became the antiepic spokesperson for this thread. I'd really love to see what nonepic shit you listen to. Would probably put the whole forum to sleep.

It doesn't matter, someone who listens to primarily breakbeat or IDM would probably think Slipstream is absolutely dripping with emotion or something. It's just more than some people are used to which makes them think it's "too epic", whatever the flying fuck that means

And yeah, God I wish I could make basses like Blueman, though I'm glad not everyone can replicate it. If they could imagine how many shitty Blueman clones there'd be, haha. Andy never really mixed up the sounds his rolling basslines used and if people knew exactly what his technique was that really would be the end of unique basslines in uplifting trance. They're hard enough to find as it is.

But in all honesty I've seen someone tell Blueman directly on trancefix (and ctg too he'd get shit) that his music was boring generic shit or something along the lines. And he said something like "if I started making music with the idea that I could please everybody than Id be in the wrong profession". And I also noticed just because he was posting at their forum, the majority of people would kiss his ass.

I wouldn't expect no different on this forum. When someones far outside your daily reality you tend to judge them with more scrutiny. And if he posted on this forum there'd be a lot of people likely trying to win his respect. People are generally fake like that. Shit I could prob make a new account with his name and aNYthing would be the first person trying to befriend me.
Anyway yeh, it doesn't matter either way.

Todays (uplifting) trance is just bland. It's heaps of the same but different. Probably a side-effect of it being rather popular. Pop hits are overly similar a lot of times too.
