I've decided to support Obama in this election. I don't agree with much of his policies (especially his tax policies), but we're seriously fucked if Palin is one croak away from becoming president.

I'm just supporting the lesser of the evils here.

edit: of course this doesn't mean much since my NY vote counts for shit

edit2: since my vote is worthless, maybe i'll vote for McCain/Redneck Pitbull to see how many people I get emo.

I've gone the same route for similar reasons. I typically vote Republican mostly because I agree with their fiscal policies, tax policies, and their position on gun control even though my views differ significantly with the party line on "social" policies like abortion, religion, morality, drugs, stem cell research, etc. However, the Republican party of George Bush is not my Republican party. WTF has happened where Republicans are now the irresponsible deficit spenders? The Republican party needs to distance itself quickly from the policies of the Bush administration and get itself back to the Contract with America days. The party needs a wakeup call and I believe a solid Obama victory will give them that.

The thing that kept me wavering for so long is Obama's lack of experience and his lack of a solid long term voting record in the Senate. But in the end for me McCain shot himself in the foot by being the oldest candidate ever to run for his first term as president and selecting for his running mate someone with even less experience than Obama. And the more times I heard Sarah Palin open her mouth the more concerned I became about the idea of her possibly becoming president. I may not like Joe Biden politically, but Obama made an intelligent choice in picking him as his running mate. He didn't poison Obama's ticket for me like Clinton would have, and his experience and foreign policy knowledge help to balance out Obama's lack of experience in those areas.

After watching Obama last night I finally made up my mind. I realize that it was a polished political commercial but really it just affirmed for me something that has been in the back of my mind for quite some time having seen several Obama speeches. When he speaks he brings back the memories I have of Ronald Reagan, the last president who I feel was truly an inspirational leader. Obama has those same leadership qualities and that is what the country needs right now. How ironic that my memory of a staunch Republican president has led me to vote for a Democrat.

In the end, I felt that I can risk 4 years on him. He can't be any worse of a president than Bush has been and if after 4 years I don't think he has done a good job I will vote him out of office. But I know I am certainly not better off than I was 8 years ago and I think the majority of people feel the same way. I also know I’m sick of spending money in Iraq that should be spent here and I think Obama is the fastest route to getting us out of there. Obama says he is for the people and will be looking out for the average American. Given the current state of the country I’m willing to give him 4 years to show us what he can do.

So I've mailed my ballot and I guess I'm officially and Obama Republican. I hope he is as good of a president as he has been a candidate.

I daresay he's been the best candidate in modern electoral history. I'm really pressed to identify a single "mistake" the campaign has made, which is both encouraging and a little worrisome. Encouraging because it's been an opportunity for Obama to show that he does indeed have some pretty amazing executive skills, and worrisome because once in the White House there will be inevitable mistakes and we don't yet know how Obama picks himself up after making one.

you and i are the same!

i really really dislike the thought of sharing wealth because i feel there is alot of ppl - who can physically fuking work - that will take advantage of that system.

I'm really strongly against that. Hope it doesn't go through. I don't give a fuk what others may think. I work hard to live my life. Why can't you?

edit - my main jist w/ Obama. Although it really grinds my gears. I had to put it aside because he is going to win regardless.
