Contikis are a workout. If your travelling for the first time or your by yourself i would recommend. I wouldnt do a contiki second time round but i dont regret doing it in the first place, altho contiki isnt my idea of a relaxing holiday. 2 hours sleep 8 hour bus rides, take its toll lol

trust me, contiki is awesome. you'll meet some ripper folks from all over the world. yes everything is regimental and planned but thats why it was perfect for a lazy-arse such as myself. unless you're a socially awkward doofus like phil then its well worth it!

I was thinking of flying into London and then finding a budget airline to get to Split and maybe visit Denmark and Sweden but apparently the baggage maximum is 15kg and they charge insane amounts per kilo over. So...I think I might just fly direct to Split, drop off the luggage I don't need and then get some budget airlines to London and anywhere else. Sound better?

Who's flown around EU with the budget airlines? Is it easy to get tickets when you get there or should I try and snare some before I go.

Looking to reserve my ticket by the end of the week. Fucking excited already

i flew ryan air quite a bit out of london, fares are shit easy to get and its true they only allow certain luggage on board and its not included in your ticket, i remember getting a flight from london to glasgow for 80pence or something crazy like that. You have to add on taxes and also was around 9pounds for your luggage
still was heaps cheaper than getting the train/bus there

Had no problems with the airline :P

As Jolz said it's pretty easy to get tix online at at the airports (costs more) when you're there. Only thing about budget airlines, similar to back home, is that the airports are often in whoop whoop so prepare for some additional travel time and expense to get from whoop whoop to the nearest major city/town. Still works out cheaper than travelling with the larger airlines, and yes you need to factor in luggage allowances also.

(now that I'm in Toronto) I'll be visiting Syd in May, London starting June. Not sure if I can stay in Europe in July... really depends on whether or not work will give me the time off. Perhaps fly back to Europe in August and hit up Amsterdam and Ibiza then.. hmmm... Gotta work something out! Wanted to join you in Spit too When are you going there?
