Phil - if you like someone solely BASED on what country he is from then you're a loser. |
its not solely based on WHAT country he's from, but the emotions and his style of play, he looks like hes enjoying it so much more, the way he mucks around with the ball and stuff, playing 3 massive matches in a row, the crowd, the drama the excitement its all happening the fact he is a wog only makes it better

Agreed, kick his ass Federer! |
Unfortunately, for Baghdatis, if it's Federer in the final I think Federer would destroy him.
For Baghdatis to win against Federer he'll need
- high 1st serve percentage in
- accurate shots on/near the line
- to stay away from the federer forehand (even then his backhand is almost as difficult to beat)
- focus, discipline and no wild throwaway shots (like the few he did last night)
- federer to lose concentration (it happens, he could get his cheer squad to try and distract the fed-express) and to capatalise on it

Well he's technically the best at what he does, but he's not the most animate or doesn't quite possess the aura of other players. Kinda like people commenting on PVD's technical ability but the "he never smiles or dances" comments (though we have seen that is not true in some cases )
I think people can relate to Baghdatis coz he's the underdog, the little guy. Nobody thought he'd do so well and he did let his play prove them wrong.
Federer will no doubt enter the hall of fame, but Baghdatis is way more likeable and entertaining to watch.

federer beat baghdatis in the fourth round last year and he will do it again this year.
agree with begic on this one, federer has taken tennis to a new level. he is a complete player whether it be from the baseline or the net, serving or returning serve. watching him play tennis is like watching someone create a masterpiece, some of the shots he is capable of are just plain ridiculous and you know they are no fluke because he consistently pulls them off.
also baghdatis is fatigued he has played three epic matches in a row, whilst the only scare federer has had the whole tournament was against tommy haas.
GO THE SWISS!!!
