According to news reports that i have read, Louisiana supplies roughly 25% of the USA's energy needs through oil. Think about this for a minute. Now, this hurricane has completely destroyed the oil production in the area. Petrol prices all around the country have already risen dramatically. Almost every sector of the economy is going to be hit by the rising energy costs.

This is going to have a huge impact on the US economy and experts are already predicting that growth is going to slow to a crawl. The damage bill from Hurricane Katrina is already expected to reach US$50 billion.

You seem to have a pretty distorted view of economics my friend......

also if u knew abt the gas market ud know that any rumour of any shortage of gas effects gas prices. has nothing to do with the economy.

rememebr gas is a world commodity its bought and sold on the world market. india and china buying the most and the majority of it. so any rumour of a shortage in the future will rise gas prices. does not mean we're running out of any. and once again does not effect our economy

call it naive, but did people in all honesty think that there WOULD be homes to go back to after katrina had knocked down a few roofs here and there.

That the superdome would provide the extra level of protection for people while the wind was blowing, then they could return safely to a home which may have got a bit battered.

Over optimism?

ps, if those two para's suck, it's 3am and I'm fukd. not drug fukd.

Yup. Gotta side with vivid, though Im not sure I buy into his somewhat crazy theory. However, to quote some wise words, the only thing more foolish than thinking everyone is out to get you is thinking no one is out to get you.

and if u guys want to blame someone for high gas prices blame the chinese. they have a high demand for it since theyve had an industrial revolution in the last 15 years. thats why the gas prices are so high the demand from china is huge. our supply and our demand has been constant for the last 10 years. its china's that exploded which boosted up the price for gas per barrel. no iraq no new orleans. CHINA
