Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. Is the AmEx promo on their site? I didn't see any mention of it.

Yeah... but I've seen all of his starts last year and this. And he just doesn't look awesome like he used to. His first half last year had the makings of a legendary season. Better than his 2000 (as I've said before, best single season pitching performance EVER). But he couldn't keep it up. And, so far this year, he looks like he's right where he left off last year. Which is good/great... but unspectacular. Which is why I think this will be his last great year. Next year, probably like his '04 and slightly above average. And then... bleh.

Pecota's projection has him pitching the 07 and 08 seasons with sub 3.2 ERA and sub 1.1 WHIP... after that its in the 3.7-3.9 with a 1.2 WHIP.

PECOTA is not taking into account his loss of stuff. It just goes by comparable pitchers up till now and Pedro's own stats. Trust me, I hope it's right. I just don't see it happening.

His stuff rating is 30 for the '07 and '08 seasons... '09 its down to 20, '10 its at 18.

You know what, if he falls off as a starter... a team could really cash in big if they could try to use him as a closer. A pitcher like that doesnt necessarily loose stuff, but he just looses the strength and energy to pitch 7 innings per, so as a closer I think he could handle throwing 95 for 1 inning.

He tops out at 89 MPH now. 3 years ago, he was at 97. That's a lot of "stuff" to lose.

Again... PECOTA goes only by comparables. I'm guessing his comparables are Johnson, Gibson, Seaver, Koufax...

Well... I got one right. Koufax.

1. Sandy Koufax (878) *
2. Curt Schilling (863)
3. Sam Leever (852)
4. Dwight Gooden (851)
5. Jack Chesbro (850) *
6. Ron Guidry (847)
7. Bob Caruthers (841)
8. David Cone (831)
9. Dazzy Vance (829) *
10. Larry Corcoran (828)

Thats rough, I dont watch many games, so I cant really watch the numbers - I just read alot whenever I get a chance to shuffle through BP, ESPN and Yahoo.

Great game out at Shea
It's funny seeing the Mets fans make fun of the tomahawk chop
I hope there's much more of that to come

It makes you wonder though. If last year, topping out at about 91-92 the first half and 88-89 the second half, he had such a great year... imagine what he could've done if he still had that 97 MPH fastball and pitched the way he does now.

Best. Pitcher. Ever. And I'm not afraid to say it.

I think you're afraid lightning may strike your head if you don't say it

Im not afraid to agree either, his numbers in a batters era are amazing. I posed that question to alot of other people and I got Nolan Ryan and Clemens as answers, they are great, but Pedro has just been so consistently dominant its rediculous.

And my friend, nobody maintains a 97mph fastball after over a decade pitching in the majors. But I am surprised hes not throwing in the low 90's, he probably does but not all the way through.
