When I speak to just about ANYONE who has been in the scene for 15+ years and they hear SvD live for the first time, one of the biggest things that just about all of them say is that the music and energy in his set reminds them of the craziness of the old days...of the early 90s.
I think that's saying something.
Most of us here weren't into the full-on scene (not saying we didn't like the music then), but people who have the experiece and the history and have the wisdom all see very similar things about SvD.
That being, he's obviously not going to cater to everyone. But seeing John say the things he says about Sander...it just goes along with most of the other people I nkow who have at least been a part of the scene for nearly as long...all have similar thoughts, so Sander must be doing something right.
Sander just played here a few weeks ago, and the intensity in the place was easily the best intensity I've experience in all of 2007. And his set when he played here in 2006 was just shockingly mindblowing to the crowd.
This isn't necessarily in response to any style or production Sander has done, it's just more of the response his tracks and live sets bring to the table.
I probably made no sense in this post. Been a long week. :-\
