Needless to say, I must have either been referring to the music video, making a joke, or exaggerating from a moment's glee. In fact, I'm sure you could revel at a lot of what I said when I had that account - as a great deal of it was said in jest.

Epic Trance is the gateway genre into the world of rave for most people, so if you have any form of music to blame for raves hitting the mainstream, this is it. Right here. And that, my friends, really, truly, terribly sucks. There must be a word to describe the pain one feels when witnessing (or hearing, rather) something once pure and brilliant completely sold down the water.
Sometime in the mid-90s trance decided to drop the technique of slowly introducing complicated layers and building adequate tension over long stretches, replacing them with cutesy little insta-melodies (Robert Miles may actually be to blame for this). That made it more pop culture accessible. The average attention span, way too ritalin-freaked to pay attention to the slow, brooding trance in its original form, liked the anthemic singalong tone of the NEW McTrance, and that's why all you trance crackers are reading this right now. Not because you grew a taste for this super awesome underground music or you discovered it all by yourself once upon a time. But because trance reformed its sound and delivery to suit YOUR sweet-toothed, top40 pop music consuming tastes. Because the truth is Epic trance is not actually trance, per se. It is powdered, sugar-coated pop schmaltz draped over trance for easy digestion by giggling highschool girls and poser trendy types who would never think to even blink at trance in its raw incarnate. This is the musical equivalent of drowning a meal in ketchup so you can't taste the original flavour anymore.

TRUTH!!!!!

what's interesting, is that i started out listening in the late 90's (w/ the old sound of trance). but now, i don't much care for that sound anymore.

hmm...i think what happened, is that over the years, i've adapted w/ the sound's change 'cause i had to unless i wanted to stop listening all together; rather, i've had to listen to what's been avaliable to me, 'cause i sure as hell wasn't/am not gunna listen to 1999 trance non-stop & not listen to the new stuff. =S ehh...i see it as a survival mechanism, really.

...lol. i guess you could compare it to your best friend growing up & changing their personality or whatever. either you can accept it & learn to deal w/ it & maybe even like it. or you can stop being friends w/ them. hmm...now, it all depends on if their personality changes for the better or for the worse. (regardless, you still have those 2 choices.)

While I'm still waiting for those facts (not generalizations like "There's at least one House club in every city"), I'm going to post some random YouTube videos:

You can keep being a troll if you want, chadi, but if you want me to read your posts, then post a source that disproves that:

Trance music sells more records than House music

But wouldn't it be impossible for me to disprove a fact that you've already supported with hard numbers?

Nothing failed. I just find it funny that you claim you like "real trance" yet that's supposedly your favorite song.

But that's a nice defense, though. The "it was just a joke" rebuttal. Right.

It's only unfortunate that you would attempt to discredit me on terms which bear no pertinence to the original debate. I suppose I should also be berated for not remembering the context in which I mentioned a random track that fascinated me while perusing a "favorite trance song" thread created probably two years ago. Does it really get more petty than this?

But even if Cascada's "Everytime We Touch" were my favorite track, I fail to see how that would have absolutely any undermining relevance to the points which I have put forth during the course of this exchange.

Now that we're passed that one, I would recommend that you either address the issues with sound argument, or refrain from commenting altogether.

I'm not conceding anything until I see some proof:
