His legs might snap. Those girl jeans are supposed to be pretty tight, you know?

Where in my post was that implied?

And the fact of the matter is that it does seem to be a pretty much uniquely American problem, so if you'd like to go find me the global statistics for school shootings and prove me wrong I'd be thrilled.

And AusralianGQ - if anything, your posts in this thread make me hope you get harassed ten times more than you already do.

And just so everyone knows - Yuris works either for a defense corporation or some arms company, so take anything and everything he has to say on the issue with an incredibly biased grain of salt.

He knows his shit (very intelligent fellow - history major I believe), but the kid also loves to stir the pot whenever he can - those of us from MWTA are pretty well used to it.

Here you go, I took the liberty of finding at least one timeline of school shootings for you:

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0777958.html

Of all those listed, only 11 aren't in the U.S. - and only two other countries have had more than one in that time frame.

So would you care to argue that it likely doesn't have anything to do with U.S. culture now?

Edit: An even better list can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_shootings

I also just re-read this load of horseshit and had a good laugh. You have got to be fucking kidding me.

To be fair though, I always wanted to get into that business because of the way I felt - my views on firearms had already been shaped prior to me working in that industry. It's not as if I started working in that industry and my views were shaped afterwards.

I enjoy doing what I do - but I'm in marketing, I could be just as easily marketing vacuum cleaners, car tires or flavored water so I'm not dependent on this particular industry for my bread, thus there is no inherent desire for me to see people buy riflescopes, holosights, etc. in a larger sense.

I've lived in a country where firearm ownership was banned and read of plenty more where such a thing happened - the defining pattern is that outlawing weapon ownership is one of the first steps to totalitarianism. I'd hate to see that happen here.

Like I said, you know your shit - and your opinions and ideas are based on your own reasoning, so there's definitely no hating for that (though I'd say I disagree to a pretty large degree). I do also really understand how your own experiences shape your beliefs on policy, so it isn't as if your views don't make sense to me.

I do, however, feel like I have to warn the c0r when a fellow like you stumbles into a thread like this - very dangerous kid, you are.

I think the fact that it happens in other places - where the culture is almost opposite from US lends credence to the argument that it doesn't have anything to do with US culture for the most part.

I'm sure it plays a minor role, but I don't think its the driving force.

I think the # of incidents says more than simply the fact that it has happened other places.

I truly believe that it has more to do with U.S. societal values and practices that at the very least creates a fertile ground for this kind of activity. Do I believe it's a problem that can be solved by dealing with a single issue (gun control, video games, etc.)?

Absolutely not - but I don't think there's any denying it has something to do with it.

Then again, I'm no expert.

Based on what I've read from Yuris thus far, he's pretty ignorant.

I'd love to hear you provide some insightful arguments and show me where I have erred.

I just think that your argument re: totalitarianism taking root in a gun-free environment is ridiculous. You are completely ignoring the checks and balances in the government.
