Iknowrite?

Srsly though, you never hear of polls for the Number One Band in the World by Blender Magazine.

Do people realize the scope of djs there are out there? What quantifies number one? Is it an amalgamate of mixing ability, music taste, world-wide affect and draw, and history within a certain phylum of the scene? If so, who set up those parameters? How come some guy who is in his room who just collects the hell out of some music and throws down some sort of epic set every few nights just for the love of music itself any less "number one" than Richie and his M_nus hipsters doing coke and manhugging Ricardo behind a pile of cords and a crowd of sweating ketamine gyrators?

when you really think about it....EDM is really the only music where people go to see the DJ. You don't see many people going to the country bar because DJ Redneck is spinning. We really are an ass backwards group of people.

Not really true. People go to see a certain band all the time. People go to see certain artists all the time. There are still the people that will frequent a bar where some random band is playing, but it happens on either side that people go out to see a particular artist. They may even state that a certain artist is "the best". But it seems far more prevalent in EDM, and it seems that only in EDM is there a magazine that backs this notion.

Bands and DJs are two very different things....if anything bands are more like producers....you go to see the band and their music. DJs are more like the cover bands out there and I don't know many cover bands that sell out a club like Guv.

If anything....we should be praising the producers more and the DJs less.

Good djs still provide an original musical output and in essence "produce". As long as they aren't just playing one track after another, but MIXING and providing something original, then I'd consider them producers in a sense. But yeah, I agree with you mostly

What about all the band groupies? Or the Hip Hop artist groupies?

They must be even more backwards.

No, when you really think about it, you realize that that's not true.
