Do you really synthesize *all* your own percussion samples? That's pretty cool, if so. Can you post some of the kicks, snares, hi hats, etc. you've made? I can make kicks on my own but they're pretty plain sine / triangle wave stuff, nothing stellar. They hit pretty hard, though:

I have never made a *good* hi hat or snare from scratch. Wish I could find out how.

I think it's awesome when people can make absolutely all their own sounds, but you shouldn't be a jerk about it like you have been in this thread. You can still make a good song if you use samples from other people.

not because it was well arranged or composed but because "IT WAS YOUR WORK".

and if this does not make sence then fuck me i give up and no i'm not a retard just because i want my shit not to sound the same as everybody else. and just because i can teach myself how to work from scratch and go about making my own sound is not retarted.

At least you're finally giving up now!!!

Oh and with regards to the bit I've quoted, when has anyone ever said that if you create your ownn drum loop, you shouldn't use it in your production? No one has said this, this is another example of you missing the point and not reading what people write.

If you want to create everything yourself then fine. Nothing wrong with that. If, for your own production method, you find you can better achieve the sound you are after and building every single element from the ground up, then great, whatever works best for you.

But in creating every element yourself, don't think that this will make your track sound more original than someone who uese samples and presets, because it simply isn't true. And please don't confuse presets with the over used recycled sounds in a lot of todays trance. This is a seperate issue and nothing to do with presets. I could make a trance track entirely from presets and have it sound nothing like a typical trance track. All I need to do is choose presets that sound original.
so hang on who made those presets/? was it you? if everybody owned a virus lets say or a popular synth and made tracks with those presets witch most seem to do does this then not high lite my point....YOU NEVER MADE THOSE PRESETS SOMEONE ELSE DID.

Yeah, it's fine to be adamant about doing things your way, but when you repeatedly insist over 10+ pages (or whatever - I didn't actually count) that other people's way of doing things is less creative, unoriginal, etc., then at some point you have to put your money where your mouth is and demonstrate the difference. Otherwise, your argument holds no weight and your credibility just goes out the window.

i remove all parameters and settings pre made so that its as straight and untoched as i can then go about creating the sound i'm after. i write it all with one clear line in paino roll play on a loop and co create a new sound.

and for the last time i'm not being a dick just because people dont seem to get why creating a song from a blank page is to hard or pointless.

i have built up my own sound banks over time and learned how to get what i want from my set up. through time and hard work

I dont know, sometimes things are just so logical that you just have to try and explain it.

He says that if you arent making your own samples your music will be unoriginal and generic.. even though the artists he has listed as original can be proven do use plenty of samples, it still doesnt go through.
