don't you think the u.s. has a right to be concerned in this scenerio. i hope the u.s. stays as long as they need to stay.

Of course you should have concerned. But, I don't see how continuation of the bombings in Afghanistan can prevent future terrorist attacks. This war on Afghanistan was mislabelled as a war on Terrorism, I believe. My point is that bombing Afghanistan does not prevent terrorism. What prevent's terrorism then? I don't know, but its not bombing Afghanistan. :P If another attack comes, you cannot blame it on "we didn't bomb them enough." The terrorists are more likely inside your borders than they are in Afghanistan. You're after Al-Queda, they have no nationality, and no country. If you destroy afghanistan, they'll just move somewhere else.

This is all well and good, but an all or nothing attitude is the sort of thing I assosciate with bigots and fascists.

You accept that there is an extent to which the US can retaliate. Too little, too much, etc. If someone says it's too much, they are not saying the US shouldn't be there.

Many, like myself, think the US should be there, and elsewhere, but that she should do the job properly, not for the cameras. A proper job will cost American lives and it will cost the taxpayer a lot of money, and the US govt is willing to forfeit neither of those things. Hence, she is willing to cosmetically sort out the problem.

It's not black and white, it's not a case of "well we can either bomb them to fuck or we can do nothing". There is a middle to the two extremes.

Is the task in capable hands or is it being fought for the cameras, for votes? Well, given we live in a democracy, where there is a lot to be gained by cutting corners and lying (Stephen Byers anyone?), I'd put my money on the latter.

do you think America is out every day bomobing civilians?...get real..we are targetting terrorist camps...it jus so happens that in war and being human MISTAKES CAN AND WILL HAPPEN...its sad but true...unavoidable...

maybe we should jus let those terrorist camps that are in Afghanistan saty where they are and reestablish a stronger regime...is that what u want?////....unbeleivable....

Hmmm as a matter of fact....

Remember those pilots and hijackers? How long were they in the US b4 the attack? Believe it or not there is a large world wide network of American dissent... AND yes right inside your own country! But also in Canada, Britain, Germany, Italy and any other democratic "westernised" nations.

So what do you bomb your own? (and yes i do mean to generalize all western nations together... This is a war of so called civilised countries VS. so called uncivilised ones. ) Of course NOT that is perposterous.

So why take on Afganistan?

Why Iraq?

Why take on anyone who does not share the same western ideals?

It is about about power and control nothing more nothing less..

Forget all this anti terror rhetoric. There is far more than meets the eye when it comes to why the US invade certain countries and not others.

Please don't be a pratt.

As a matter of fact, one of the single biggest concerns to a politician in a democratic system is his ratings.

You take any political science course, in Senior High School or University, and the Prof will tell you this. It just bugs me when its disguised as something else. Government elected by the people, hiding the facts from the people.
