Technically it's more like "Shah" then either Shay or Shar lol.

Though it all depends on your dialect I guess

Good point but, yeah, that's because Stu and I don't pronounce the final r (I sounds like a Londoner with some sort of speech impairment, and Stu sounds like a bogan).

Yeah, Lews, my accent doesn't really pronounce the 'r' sound in stuff like that. Like Lira said, it's more like 'ah' compared to the American 'arr' ()

If you need clarification, let me know some words, and I'll record them (no singing/humming, I promise).

Will you?

"Bead", "Bid", "Bed", "Bad", "Bard", "Bud", "Bird", "Bod", "Board", "Bawd", "Good", "Booed", "Bode", "Bald", "Bade", "Bide", "Bowed", "Buoyed", "Beard", "Bared", "Boor".

Because vowels are more diverse across different accents than consonants, I think these words are enough to tell you where a person is from most of the time. I'd record them myself but I'm not exactly a native speaker so I'm not sure if anyone would be interested =/

Haha, I missed this.

Will do, Lira.

Awesome, thanks! Heh, I was actually surprised by a few things in your pronunciation: the way you said "bade" isn't nearly as wide as I thought it would be, and the way you said "good" apparently rhymes with the way an American would say "lute", though I need to check it visually later.

And by surprised I mean happy to see something interesting

Lute -> good?

Don't think that sounds right to me :/

I'm using a pretty damn crappy recorder - It's my mp3 player - so it might not be very accurate.

I'll try and find the cables for our senheiser mic, that would be better.

Your pronunciations are exactly how I would say them Stu, though my immigrant twang would be more prevalent.
