This is going to be good :P

Got to be prepared. One thing... the filters for those things don't come cheap from what I hear.

I am surprised he didn't want to take a picture next to some kevlar vests lol

Anyways... it was nice to see pictures of Marine One flying over Toronto.

Anyone remember this movie... (slightly off topic)

Now add this whole CSIS remarks about how we are being influenced by outside entities.

Canada under the influence of foreign powers

It should make for an interesting G20.

A blogTO reader sent us this photo of his G20 security pass the other day, which reveals that world leaders congregating in Toronto have every reason to fear for their safety. There are grave problems with the security credentials that have been issued to residents within the safety zone. Problems that may see impostors from "Ontairo" freely enter the protected area.

Well, not really. But somebody's been a bit sloppy. In light of the massive sum allocated to protect the delegates and fortify the downtown core (not to mention the fake lake fiasco), you'd expect that organizers would be able to spell Ontario.

Or, might it be that the budget has gotten so out of hand that typos like this are left to stand?

Either way, the hallmark of any successful security effort is attention to detail. And on that account, this little mistake is anything but an auspicious sign.

That's interesting. I have one of these cards, however it says my office address, and then on the next line - "Toronto, ON" just like you would write it as part of a mailing address.

The cards do seem filmsy, however, they come with another small card and must be used with photo ID so that your name and office location or whatever your reason for access is can be cross checked against a master list.

Is the fence fully closed off now with specific access points?

Be careful not to walk by the fence cause you may be get arrested without ID. WTF this is retarded. What if you just want to walk through cause you don't want to walk around the city to get to the other side.

Ontario has quietly passed legislation that allows police to question and arrest not just people walking within the G20 security zone in Toronto, but even anyone walking within five metres of the fencing.

There are reports that a 32-year-old man has already been arrested under the new regulation, because he refused to show ID to police who questioned why he was inspecting fencing around the security perimeter.

The new regulation temporarily alters the Public Works Protection Act to designate the entire security perimeter surrounding Toronto's convention Centre as a "public works" site during the summit.

That then allows police to ask anyone within five metres of the perimeter to identify themselves or be searched. Those who refuse to show identification face arrest.

Anyone convicted could face up to two months in jail or a $500 maximum fine.

The regulations were passed earlier this month by provincial cabinet using what is known as a "covering" order-in-council. The changes were not debated in the Legislature.

The regulation is written so that it took effect on Monday and will be revoked June 28, the day after the summit.

The law appeared on the province's e-Law website last week, but won't be officially published until July 3 -- by which time, the regulation will have expired.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association said in a media statement that it "is obviously extremely concerned about the implications of this measure" and says it will seek to challenge the regulation.

There are already regulations in place that give police the authority to question anybody inside the restricted zone, from June 14 until June 28. Const. Tim Garland, spokesperson for the Integrated Security Unit, says anyone walking in that zone can be stopped and questioned.
