Their one goal was absolutely perfect and definitely raised my hopes too high for their performance in the second half...

Apparently the "grass" in that corner of the pitch was actually green paint, as the turf wasn't ready. Although that was surely the worst corner kick I've ever seen.

Still, even though we lost, that was a very positive performance. We dominated large spells of the game and the Italians were hanging on towards the end. I can't remember the last time we played so well against a high quality side in such an important match. It kind-of reminds me of Euro 2004 when we narrowly lost 2-1 to France in our opening game - hopefully we can do what we did then and score a hatful of goals in our next two games to get out of the group. Certainly Uruguay's loss to Costa Rica gives us a lot of hope. And if we don't get out of the group... well, I've already got a contingency bet on us to fall at the group stage.

Haha, if that's true, it's just Manaus being Manaus Source?

For the record, my wife (she lives there) noticed they installed the bilingual traffic signs just yesterday. These signs have been around Brasilia for more than a year now

Sorry to any Mexicans here... but I was irritated like a mother ****** when half my co-workers showed up to work Monday in "Mexico" jerseys. They then proceeded to not do jack shit, except watch the game 'low pro' on their phones and do NO work. Fucking Mexicans were transferring me their customers calls and Hello! We are commissioned based..
Fuck that noise! They didn't even bring nachos!

The commentators who had inspected the pitch pre-match mentioned it a few times. Google "Manaus pitch paint" and there's loads of articles about it.

By your line of work, it seems like it isn't exactly Mexicans, at least not most of them. It's more like American-Mexicans, or as they like to be called, Mexican-Americans. That is a rare breed which claims Mexican citizenship when Mexico wins at anything but instantly change back to being American as soon as Mexico loses anything or US wins something. It is like a two-color chameleon. Do not worry about this breed. Like most of the US population, they are not completely informed on the sport and their excitement can be annoying because many just follow the sport for this World Cup tourney knowing only about C. Ronaldo, Messi, Beckham--yeah, I know, and a few others.

To test if your co-workers belong to this rare breed, simply ask who the three goalies are for Mexico, obviously without googling it. If they know it and answer it under 4 seconds, it is almost certain they do not belong to the sometimes unlikeable breed and are purely Mexican. And you can't beat pure Mexican. Let that person be. A pure Mexican needs to wear that overpriced Mexican shirt not to be like everyone else, but to avoid his flesh from becoming the shirt.

For a pure Mexican, it is all in the flesh, in the flesh, in the flesh.
