I doubt it'll be as dramatic as all that. But the environment is collapsing from every angle: water shortages, rising sea levels, micro-plastic pollution, soil erosion, catastrophic decline of pollinating insects, acidification of the ocean, climate change. What I expect to happen in the next 50 years is that the planet will stop being able to produce enough food for the human population, and famine, war and mass migration like we've already seen in Europe will become enormous problems.
Personally, I don't understand why there isn't a global population cap enforced immediately. No woman can bear more than two children in her lifetime. If we don't do that as the absolute bare minimum, there's going to be a humanitarian crisis on a global scale within our lifetimes. I haven't heard it seriously proposed anywhere though, presumably because it's considered inhumane to stop people breeding like fucking rabbits.
I will say, though, that an attitude of "It's too late to stop it, so I won't even try" is a complete moral dereliction. | i agree, or at least some sort of procedure if you want to have kids in the first place, it may seem totalitarian to do but fuck some people have 0 self control and decision making skills which just puts unnecessary burden on the system. also asians need to chill jesus christ they're everywhere. really though you get a lot of these low income fucks abusing the system. i read about some guy that had 11 kids so he could earn 75k in some sort of welfare checks. sure bet those kids see the money. or just idiots breeding
its not that i have given up trying/caring, i try to do my best to limit my foot print and advise others without coming off like a pushy asshole. thing is most people don't give a shit and thats what i mean. by the time everyone starts to care or think about it like a serious problem, it might be too late at that point.
trump canning a bunch of programs and endorsing things and calling climate change a hoax makes it even worse.
