Jenas has been shit this season, utter shit. Last season he was touted as one of England's best young prospects, and you could certainly see potential from his performances against the likes of Arsenal, Juventus and Man United, where as an inexperienced youngster he was thrown in at the top level and held his own against some of the world's best midfielders. Hopefully it's just a blip (all young players go through that), but I'm pretty worried by the fact he's been shite for months now.

It may be that he needs a rest, as he's hardly missed a game all season. Many fans think he's not putting enough effort in, that he's getting too cocky and that he needs a few weeks in the reserves to bring him back down to earth. One thing's for sure, he has not been worthy of a regular starting place this season. It's no wonder that Hugo Viana (who a couple of years ago was awarded European young player of the year and was bought for 8.5m) is pissed off at not getting a game when he sees Jenas get picked every week no matter how crap he plays.

In short, Jenas's major problems this season have been a lack of commitment, poor passing and no creativity when he reaches the danger zone.

yep, Jenas has been absolutely crap mate, same as Viana.

I still cant get over the loss of Solano but I think this new Taylor guy looks very promising indeed, as does Darren Ambrose!

The sale of Solano is possibly another indication that Newcastle's finances aren't all they should be. The club announced we only lost 7 million from losing to belgrade and we've still got the money from the PSV (and hopefully more) games to come. Yet the last player we spent any money on was Ambrose 18 months ago and even he only cost a million. No other club in the Premier league has spent less. At the end of last season the club announced record profits. Now we're reduced to selling Solano for 1.5m! With Cort gone for 2m and Pompey interested in buying Lua Lua for 1.5 or 2m, there's a good 5m from a season's sales. Surely we must be looking to buy someone this summer, Champions League or otherwise.

metro centre is over the river (gateshead way), u have to get train from newcastle station, takes 5-10 mins

Actually im positive that chopra is on loan at Forset unless he has returned. From the bolton match that Steven Taylor was quite good.

i reckon for the next few matches jenas should be dropped and play viana in the centre, he complains when hes out on the wing and says that his better performances will come when hes playing in the middle, so give him a chance in the middle for a few games.

Also i see woodgate played for england theres no reason why he shouldnt be playing for them all the time.

Another thing i think bramble makes too many mistakes, i say leave him out for a few games and bring that Taylor in to the centre as im positive thats his prefered position.

When Dyer/Speed are injured I think Viana definitely deserves his chance. I don't care how bad he is, he must be better than Jenas or Bowyer have been this season. Jenas has only scored 2 goals in over 30 full games this season, I'm sure Viana got more than that in just a handful of games last season. He probably got more assists as well.

As for Taylor, he looked promising but it might be a gamble putting him in the centre of defence at such a crucial time in the season. I think Ambrose is worth sticking with on the right though, the only way he will get experience.

also heard rumours about alan smith going to newcastle.. i always thought that hed be the ideal replacement for shearer at st james'. what do u guys think!

Noone could replace Shearer, Smith would be good value for money but I'm not sure he'd ever get 20 goals a season, which is what we need when Shearer hangs up his boots. Smith and Bellamy would be interesting, I'm not that confident it would work though.

i dont reckon smith would score the goals. imo i reckon we need to fork out on a class player to provide us with the goals when shearer goes, but as usual i cant see newcastle paying the money.

Newcastle's finances seem to be in shit state now. Haven't spent a penny on players for 18 months and we let Solano go for a small amount of cash. Doesn't look good does it. That 4th place must be vital to our finances, either that or winning the UEFA cup. We could quite easily get neither.

For those that don't already know, the first in a trilogy of Hollywood football movies will be set around Newcastle United. In the second film he fucks off to Real Madrid.
