Had a great time Sat night - its been awhile since I've had such a good time at the Kool Haus mostly in part due to the last few events have been on long weekends and as such have been ram jammed! So it was nice to have a decent crowd out yet not too packed in the KH - I figured a lot of people would be over in the Guv for Oakenfold anyway. Checked it out once or twice but it was just too insane in there so retreated back to KH. As always Deko-ze did what he does best and ripped up the tables as the opening act. That guy never ceases to amaze me and most people with his excellent track selection and skill on the decks. Props to Michael for doing a great job of opening up a great night. A really nice guy to boot with no attitude and there enjoying the night with the rest of us.
Perhaps it was because of his great set that I felt Vath's set to be a bit too blah. At least that's the way it started out but then he did pick it up later and though not entirely my taste he did have some good tracks in there. I've heard he's sobered up since I last saw him perform and that he's on good behaviour till next year. Maybe that brought his intensity down a bit plus he was sandwiched between two intense, relentless, dancefloor movin' DJs in Deko-ze and Mauro.
Mauro in my opinion always brings a certain intense feel to his sets. I think its rare that I have seen people not dancing during his set - I know I find it hard to leave the floor once he gets going. This night was no exception and he definitely gave the crowd what they wanted. Great to see yet another DJ taking it longer than scheduled - props to him for giving the crowd more after his alotted time. Mark was doing an excellent job playing some great banging tunes in the Guv until it was time to go.
Great hanging out with some of the TA crew and meeting some new faces: E2EK1EL, Halo20 - great meeting you guys, Nat & Graham, Brunette, Trancegeek, Rich, Nadia, Mobius, Curtis, Kevin, Endlesswave and everyone else I met this crazy night! Oh yeah and RJ and his crazy, funny stories
Well off to the UK tomorrow for Crasher this weekend - should be a wild time. Peace to all.
