The Middle East... hmm... They have oil. Name one good, positive thing that any government in the Middle East has done in the past 40 years for anyone other than themselves. NAME ONE. You will quickly find that that can't be done. They're nothing but a bunch of angry zealots arguing about who has the better imaginary friend.
As far as Israel is concerned, the only reason they have any power at all is because the United States supplies them with tanks, guns, and missiles. We've dumped more money into that country than any other ally we've ever had. They've given us fuck-nothing in return, except maybe a few thousand soldiers every now and then when the risk of death is low and the reward looks promising. The irony there is that we gave them the equipment that said soldiers used to give us aid the few times Israel has stepped up and decided to help.
People fling shit at the United States because the government here is doing what it can to keep the world from tearing itself apart. If the American military had never taken part in anything in the Middle East to begin with, there wouldn't be anything there right now. They would have fought each other to death fifteen years ago. I'm surprised that there's as much there as there is, considering the outright stupidity of the people running things there.
Bush is an idiot, yes. I can't stand him or the things that he says on television. But off camera, he knows what he's doing, and at least he's making a go at eliminating the problems created by Middle Eastern nations that are fucking over economies and politics all over the world. For that, he deserves nothing but the utmost respect.
Call me an idiot. I could care less. I live in the richest, most powerful country in the world. If we're idiots, why have we been running the show for as long as we have? Why have we remained the most powerful nation on the planet through two World Wars, Vietnam, and three major conflicts in the Middle East? Why are we always the one that has to go in and set things straight?
