And guess what, all of those names had their boom at least 6-7 years ago, and all of their recent outings had nowhere near the same impact, popularity nor critical acclaim as their previous works.

And I'm not assuming that all these venues are unsuccesful, but the fact that there are constantly new concepts around means jack shit for EDMs popularity unless they've got success to show for it. I've seen too many new concepts and clubs crash and burn to think that dance music is popular again just yet.

I've no idea what events Mylo has played since his live act has only been around for a few months, but he's played countless live gigs to date and I would be surprised if he didn't make it onto a few festival line-ups this year.

Come back when Mylo gets worldwide main stage peak hour indie festival gigs like Underworld or Orbital. Which he'll never get the way things are right now.

Turning back to house, the genre has led to massive financial success for years now, and yet the scene is still changing, innovating and growing, particularly with the current emphasis on guitar and rock elements. By your line of reasoning, house should have stagnated because it's easy to make money from it (which is true). And yet trance continues to drop in popularity despite the "money making" epic trance formula.

Indeed, house has stagnated. Hell almost every genre within EDM has to a degree, but that's another debate. Creative stagnation doesn't necessarily equal drop in popularity however.

You can't blame the lack of innovation in trance on the use of big breakdowns and super-saws. If anything, I'd blame it on the massive rise in use of software to make music as opposed to hardware.

The only thing software is to blame for is that it makes it easier to churn out formulaic records at a much faster rate. The software a producer uses does not control his/her musical creativity.

Actually, Oakenfold killed trance, but since it was a Dutch trance music node, I felt it'd be proper to put a Dutch guy, less I get a million stupid emails from people wanting to "correct" me that Oakenfold is british.....but the name is really not that important. It could've been Tiesto or Armin, it didn't really matter to me, so long as it was someone prominant and Dutch enough to rile trancecrackers. And from the looks of things, it succeeded. There's a reason why I only cited you guys in the credits. I love you all so much.

As for the rest of it.....am I joking? Am I being serious? Or am I being serious about joking? I think that's part of its charm.

(oh, and Zombie0915 is the only person in this thread who got it right)
