got there around 11 got in fairly quickly , was upset about missing mark
o's set cause his kool haus sets are always amazing (and rare)

Marcus shultz : extreamly impressed, saw him in miami and wasnt so impressed, but when he opened with language i started losing my mind.
9/10

B&J : had the crowd going the craziest, and uber trance, these guys are unreal. 9.5/10 ,,,,, not a perfect 10 because the longer set in guvy on chinese new years was just that much better.

Armin: a set worthy of holding his #1 position in my books, i love his energy and enthusiasm for music! me and armin rocked out to some of his drops too, (its kinda fun the way he finds u in the crowd and rocks it out with u as if hes in the crowd himself)

where are 80% of the ta's at the end of the night...... pussies for going home so early... u need to be trained.

shoutouts to everyone that partied it up with me , u know who u are.
see ya next time.

erm, i kinda read the first and last pages of this thread, so forgive me if i repeat what's already been said and say that this party ROCKED!

it was just so insane there. the amount of people, the talent, the production (at least in KH), everything was great. i'm from vancouver, and we do not ever have anything of this scale. even our biggest raves are not nearly as half as good as was LoL. and the TA representation at that party was crazy. in van, we have about 20 active trance-loving TAs. you guys have at least 10 times that and then some heh

i want to thank TOTAs for being so nice and accomodating to kris from NYC and me this weekend. you guys made the weekend so much more fun. a big thank you to you all (i cant start listing names cause im really bad with those heh)

right now, im working on pictures from LoL. for now here are pictures from the BBQ, i will also post the link in the appropriate thread. http://apri-peel.fotopages.com/?entry=545427 i appologize in advance if i got some of your names wrong please let me know if you want me to fix picture titles or add titles, i'll get that changed ASAP

Right, goodnet, that was it.

Anyhoo, full review:

Got into Guvernment just past 10. Didn't expect it to be that empty, even at 10, lol. At first, me and my Trance n00bs just walked around the whole complex as I was showing them all the rooms. Then we just sat and chilled in the blue cool-down room adjacent to The Guv (wtf is it called anyway?) waiting for our other friends to arrive.

Finally around 12 we made our way into Kool Haus to see Markus Schulz. He played a really solid set imo - nice tracks, nice mixing, and the SOUND SETUP WAS ABSOLUTELY SUPERB. His set sounded amazing, literally - not too loud, no distortions, balanced, etc. And then he closed with Satellite - I was having flashbacks of A&B when everyone was singing along. My only regret is that we didn't catch the earlier part of his set - from the tracklisting, it seems like he dropped some very awesome tunes there.

I didn't really know what to expect from Grayarea, but they dissapointed anyway - it was mainly the sound - waaaay too distorted, and just ... weird. We stuck around for maybe 15 minutes of their set.

From the KH we went to check out High Contrast in The Drink. When we got in, the room was beyond packed, and it was easy to see why - Jungle will get your feet moving whether you like it or not, which is why recently I've been getting into Jungle more and more. The energy in that room was off the fucking charts! I seriously think the LOL organizers underestimated the crowd that a few good Jungle DJs can bring in. We stayed in there till High Contrast closed, and then I wanted to see Blank & Jones open, so off to the Kool Haus we went.

As we were on our way to the KH, going through The Orange Room, we just caught some crazy remix of Armand Van Helden - My, My, My being dropped. We instantly stopped in out tracks and danced our asses off. Then, I was just about to continue on to B&J when I heard the DJ (who I didn't know at the time, but now know was Deekline) mixing in a beat that could only have been The Prodigy. Fucking sure enough, he was dropping Smack My Bitch Up. I'm a huuuge Prodigy fan, and I was going insane. Right at that point, my night was complete. UNTIL, Deekline followed it up with YET ANOTHER PRODIGY track - Outta Space. Shiiite. After that one, he played another favourite tune of mine that I thought I'd NEVER hear in a club: Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back. w00t! Until this day I didn't really know what Breaks were, nor how fucking amazing they were. So if any of you TAs/Breaks-lovers know when another good Breaks DJ is coming by, PLEASE make it known - I'm definitely checking that shit out again.

Eventually we broke off our cocaine-like addiction that was The Orange Room to go see Blank & Jones. They were playing an awesome Trance set - not too drawn out, not too hard. Then again, could you have expected any less from them? I almost forgot how much I loved their Flowtation track, and they did a good job of reminding me.

There was one other DJ that I wanted to see, who was unfortunately sharing his time slot with B&J, so we cut our KH stay short ot go back to The Drink to see Andy C. The room didn't change at all since we left, and Andy was putting some awesome Jungle on, even though I'll have to admit I really wanted him to play more Housey Jungle, and not just pure Jungle like he was. Didn't dissapoint still, cause I still had a great time in that room.

After he closed, we were off to see the Arminator. He started off playing a great set, and I dunno where the fuck we were when we missed Till There Was You, but I was soo pissed today when I found out I missed that track. Armin doesn't dissapoint, and it was evident the crowd was loving him. If there was one thing I had to nitpick him about, it was how distorted the vocals in the tunes that he dropped sounded - unless you knew what the lrics were beforehand, it was impossible to catch them. We danced to a bit more of his set, before deciding to head off to the Guv to see Deep Dish.

They were OK. It was danceable, and you had to love the Nitrogen machine and the lights, but Armin was waaaay better, so like after 30 minutes of Deep Dish we went back to the KH.

Armin was still coming on strong, and by the time it was 8am I was wishing he'd stop as my body was completely drained of all energy. I loved it how they opened up the side door to let people rest and cool down there without missing a second of Armin's set - that was truly appreciated. We left right after Armin dropped Silence, which, in my opinion, is one of the best tracks to end your night on.

All in all, an amazing party - the best one I've been to so far. Nobody dissapointed, even though we saw so many different DJs. Didn't have any problems with the bouncers, nor the people, nor the crowd in general (I knew it was gonna be packed, so I braced myself in advance, lol). Had a great time.

^^ you mentioned bouncers and security and i agree absolutely, they were very friendly a HUGE change from vancouver bouncers who are in most places are complete jerk offs. i know its their job but doesnt mean its ok to be an ass to people, no matter what.

i dont know if this is a typical treatment you guys get in TO from bouncers but i actually saw some of them dancing to the beats, that was dope

I was in line by 8:30pm and inside KH by 9. Ended up staying in the KH 'till 8:30am. Stayed in KH pretty much the whole night, only ventured into the Guv early on in the night while Demi was spinning to see how things look, only to return to KH minutes later.

Mark Oliver - on OK set for my tastes, 2nd half of the set was a bit better, but the only time I really enjoyed his set was at A&B

Markus Schulz - first time seeing him, great set

Grayarea - the sound was better than the last time they were here, and I think because of that I enjoyed their set more, while their style isn't for everybody, they sure had me dancing

Blank & Jones - I've heard good things about them after the Chinese New Year, saw them at SWIRL and was VERY disappointed with their performance there...however, last night they dropped an awesome set

AvB - seen him sooo many times now, always plays a good set

Staff were nice this time, didn't see any bouncers pushing their way through the crowd or anything. KH crowd was quite good. While I understand them wanting to maximize floorspace, I still wish they had some decorations to add to the atmosphere (although the lights behind the DJ were pretty cool).

Good to see everyone out and having a good time

Dancing Dude WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF...

A few minutes after Armin Van Buuren came on in the Kool Haus...I felt amazing! The hard sounds that were pumping from the speakers were phenominal...my exact thoughts...
"Armin is my sandman. This is what my dreams are made of. Taking this moment home, putting it under my pillow for sweet dreams forever!"
Loved every beat dropping second!!!

More like the Labour of 15k Mosh Pit 2005

I'm disappointed - First i had to get scalp tickets for $70 cuz everywhere was sold out. So thats a piss off. Then when i do finally get into the place after waiting for a little over an hour in line - There's a wait to get into the washroom for like another 30min. And yea, i didnt start actually enjoying myself till around 2-2:30am :P

But yea to say this event was 'packed' or 'crowded' is an understatement. There was just bodies in every imaginable place, I personally liked the enviroment at the tent better it wasnt AS crowded and you werent sweating buckets.

That show could have done with oh...i dunno maybe 5000 less people.
