Actually, I find the rockers and the Hardcore Rave music get along quite well. I was even able to drag a couple of my rocker friends to the Prodigy concert, and they enjoyed it immensely. I find Goths love the dark elements of Hardstyle, and Rockers can easily feed off the energy in the music.

They just can't stand the ghey Trance and House.

I find that Prodigy manage to create a style of music that bridges many genres. Its one of the only sounds my non-TA friends and I can agree on.

I guess I was conceptualizing ‘emo’ rockers hanging around a hardstyle stage, which would have been fun to see

I'm not quite sure if rockers would enjoy Scott Brown' hardcore beats although I definetly agree Prodigy is a group they love. What I find rockers really enjoy is breaks. The basslines and rythm is very similar with breaks being more dancable.

I'm actually pretty excited to see MOBILE, Broken Social Scene and Controller Controller. I think the rock stage is a cool edition. Whether I'll have enough time catch them all is another story.

To be honest, I’m really looking forward to another OS2 set, I haven’t seen him play since last year – and his track selections are always kickass. I even remember some of the tunes he dropped last year : BT – Godspeed, Eon – Pocket Damage, Ferry – Indigo.. Hope for another classic trance set! Not to mention Steve Helstrip who kicked my ASS @ Republik last time he was here – again, hoping for some hands-in-the-air trance! Then of course there’s J00F – the man who never disappoints! Now I’m getting myself all excited…..

*** W.E.M.F. #3 CUBE VAN *** Details

here's the line up

Stretch and Hooker, the ol' Lifeforce Family, Aaron M. and myself Donnie W. aka DJ Red Lion are pleased to announce that we will once again be hosting the #3 Cube Van at this years World Electronic Music Festival.

Dating back to 1997 this 'origina'l Renegade Soundsystem has been a staple of breakbeat culture at W.E.M.F. long before jungle or breaks made it's appearance at the festival. This year promises to be our best yet. We have been approved for 24 hour sound and have our location locked down on the site map.

Our dj's for the weekend span across all genre's and tempo's of breakbeat and I'm pleased to announce the return of many of our friends to the Cube Van as well as some new faces.

***DJ's And MC's For The Weekend In No Particular Order***

Stretch and Hooker - Toronto Canada

Dose Productions / Lifeforce / www.StrecthandHooker.com / Dirty House Music.

These 2 Barrie Boys are responsible for much of the community still bubbling in Toronto. Legendary Ontario event promoters dating back to the early 90's and they're still dropping their sounds all over North America. I'm pleased to have them on board once again for the Numba 3 Cube Van

Czech - Vancouver Canada

Futuristic Funk Records / www.djczech.com

Czech has graced the decks in the Cube Van at every W.E.M.F. His Sunday morning retro breaks set is legendary among the Numba 3 crew. I am extatic to announce the return of Czech to this years Van. You might wanna take a quick nap on Sunday morning to prepare for this one folks.

Jelo - Toronto Canada

BugeyedRecords.com / 2Wars.com / Promo / Universal / Geffen / Chris Smith Management / Free Records and Eden Recordings

Canada's most sought after re-mixer and Toronto's electronic gift to the world. Funky, energetic and an innovator of moving sounds, even Eye Magazine awarded him the prestigious "most innovative DJ' award in their yearly DJ pools. Couldn't be happier to have Jelo grace the decks again for us this weekend.

DJ Wigs And The Chronic Soundsystem - Stratford Canada

www.chronicsoundsystem.com / Down One Lounge Thursdays / Salad Gold

CEO of Toronto's current longest running drum and bass weekly. Wigs has been a Numba 3 staple since our arrival. With sweet sounds and tonnes of give-aways planned for WEMF, DJ Wigs will most likely be a sought after man at this years festival. Look for the new Chronic T's they'll be sold out by Saturday morning!!!

Ruckus - Toronto Ontario

Empire / Hustlin' Beats / Bottomline

Legendary Toronto promoter and DJ. Ryan Ruckus has never given up on the sound and has constantly pushed the scene in Toronto to greater heights. At this years Van we welcome Ruckus who always drops the nicest blend of old with new.

Red Turtle - Toronto Canada

www.djredturtle.com

This fellow "Red" animal DJ is obviously my fav. He is a breakbeat genius and has followers all over North America. His CD's are as epic as his mixing ... I can't do a road trip without one. Over the past 6 years it wasn't a real breaks party unless Turtle was on the bill. Prepare for the shell shock as this man will van-dalize the cube.

Capital J - Toronto Canada

Wikkid Recs / Just Jungle Bros / www.djcapitalj.com

Droppin' Digital Noize and tearing up the continent, J is once again droppin' by the Van for a special set. Fresh off a first class flight from headliner town we're honoured to have Capital J offer up his time.

Delirious MC - Toronto Canada

www.Keep6.com / Chronic Soundsystem / Bottomline

Whether in front of the screen design'in or in front of the decks rewind'in this man does it all. Large player in the game since the get go folks. Don't say you done know cause I know you do! Delirious will be a very busy man this weekend with the Northern Touch stage but were calling him over for a special appearance inside the cube.

King Pin & Boomchune - Toronto Canada

Ruff Plate Militia / Chronic Soundsystem / ROCJA

Ou of the RPM Studio these two men have been tearing up our local speakers with their innovative 'original' jungle sound. Long time supporters and now trail blazers of the new ragga sound. Wouldn't be a WEMF imo without these two. 9 years of 3 day's and counting. Honoured to have you aboard once again!

Uncle Bobby - Burlington Canada

Out Of Hand / Lifeforce / Destiny / Numba 3 Cube Van Vice President and Designated Driver

Making his return to the decks at this years festival Bobby is a breaks lover's wet nap ... (cause a dream requires sleep.) Honoured that he's coming out of retirement for this one!!

DJ Spinz - Toronto Canada

Sudden Def Recordings / Infected Records / Rinse Magazine / 2 The Beat and Pure Phunk

For years now dj Spinz has been one of Toronto's top drum and bass selectors. He is not just a dj, he is an entertainer, known for his energy and intensity behind the decks. His mixing skills are second to non and his scratching rips the dance apart every time!

Leroy Brown - Guelph Canada

ROCJA / Chronic Soundsystem / Ruff Plate Militia

CEO of the Royal City Jungle Alliance this man is 1/3 responsible for my love of dnb. Leroy always blends the sweetest sound. A Cube Van regular and an obvious choice for this years reunion.

Elle Be MC - Toronto Canada

TorontoJungle.com / Rinse Magazine / Theory Events / Chronic Soundsystem

Definately not new to the scene but a new guest to the Cube Van. Laura is Canada's premier and original female Jungle MC. From promotion to fashion, jungurl to MC, Laura has almost done it all. The cube's only female performer we are pleased to welcome her sweet voice back to WEMF for the first time in 8 years.

Crash - Toronto Canada

Future Sound

Crash is a symbol of the dnb community. Long time supporter and cube van interior decorator. Crash has always worked hard in front and behind the decks to push the sound in Ontario and I couldn't be happier that he's on board once again at this year's festival.

MC Frequency - Toronto Canada

Chronic Soundsystem / X-Amount Records

This young man does it the hard way and makes it look easy. He's my fav. MC in the city and he's burst onto the mic with a vengence over the past 3 years. New to the cube, Dave promises to host and toast this years WEMF with smooth skill and grimey vocals.

Tasc - Toronto Canada

www.djtasc.com

Open-mindedness to music is what sets Tasc apart from other dj's. A lot of DJs put labels on themselves which restrict their style and ability to progress. Tasc is an artist - not just a hiphop dj,turntablist or battle/competition DJ. Tasc has been droppin' memorable sets, mixtapes and CDs across Canada since 1997. Welcome home to the cube man!!

Apocalypse - Toronto Canada

Dark Sound Unit / Chronic Soundsystem / Hustlin' Beats

A new force to be respected on the dnb circuit. A true gentlemen and a great dj. First cube appearance for this man and he promises to blow the leaves off the trees with a deep powerful set of drum and bass. From the studio to the street to behind the decks this man is working overtime to bring Toronto dnb to new heights.

Reggie Niceness - Toronto Canada

Chronic Soundsystem

Anyway you slice this, once twice or thrice this you can't test the dub regga sounds of Reggie Niceness. Playing 2 special sets of dnb and reggae, Reggie will not disappoint. Premier appearance at the cube.

D-Monic - Toronto Canada

Pure Phunk / Focus / 2 Wars

Breakin beats for as far back as I can remember. He graced the decks in the cube before and this year will be no different. D-Monic always gets the ladies dancin'. Come by and enjoy the sick sounds of the broken snare!!

MC Trajady - Toronto Canada

Breakin' hearts but never breakin' concentration this long time vet. of the MIC has always had the time to drop by the cube for a few beverages and some goodtimes. Though not officially confirmed I feel confident that Traj can be lured over to the 3 for a bit!!

Yoshimojo - Mississauga Canada

http://yoshimojo.multiply.com/music

A new face to the Numba 3 area this year but no stranger to the dnb scene. It's always nice to meet some like minded souls and I glad to have this lad stoppin' by the Cube Van for a set.

Big League Chu - Toronto Canada

Out Of Hand / KicKit / Dose / Empire

Though not scheduled to play WEMF rumour has it that if we book him he will come ... his words btw. Colin is the premier force to be reckoned with in the breaks scene. His ragga break sets are my personal fav. Let's cross our fingers that he Chu-ses to join the big leagues and hit Tweed for a special set!!!

Red Lion - Guelph Canada

Numba 3 / Chronic Soundsystem / Destiny / ROCJA

I'm tired of typing ... sorry for the long post.

As always there will be many special guests dropping by. We have an open Van policy and all are welcome as long as you come with dancing shoes and positive vibes.

For those missing WEMF this year we will be broadcasting live on "youcube" so be sure to tune in from home so you don't miss a beat.

See Ya'll This Weekend

Donnie W. / DJ Red Lion
