imo, lately the past couple of years the winners of the World Series or other major championship isn't based on "the best" team, but who is the hot team heading into the championship series. The Cardinals were clearly riding the hot train, and the year before the White Sox were too.

Barry Bonds tied Hank Aaron, A-Rod became the youngest to hit 500 home runs, and Tom Glavine got his 300th win.
Too bad it wasn't on the same night, which there was the chance for last week, but all in one weekend isn't too shabby.

Out of all the accomplishments that have been made the past couple of days : Bonds 755, A-Rod's 500, and Glavine's 300 (tonight), Glavine's 300 is the most significant out of the 3. I don't think any modern day pitcher at the moment will reach 300 for a very long time.

Barroid has finally broken the record
And now all the hoopla will soon stop sounding like a broken record

get this fact. if Clemens can go for another year with the Yankees or another team, he has a good chance of passing Warren Spahn, and be the #1 leader in number of wins in "modern day baseball", not "all of baseball". Clemens has 352 and Spahn has 363.

Clemens gets a fucking 5 game suspension for beaning Alex Rios in Tuesday's Yankees-Jays game (which I was at and very intoxicated!) That is such bullshit! First the Jays throw BEHIND Arod on Monday, then he gets fucking beaned right on his left knee (that location could cause serious injury) but Towers wasn't even WARNED, much less ejected or suspended.

And then I had to listen to those fucking HOMER Jays baseball commentators yack on and on during Wednesday's game about how the Yankees are favoured around the league and that they are always given the call when they're at home. What fucking horseshit! Honestly, I support Canada having an MLB team (even though I hate the Jays) but I cannot fucking stand the Canadian sports media a lot of the times, especially those who cover Toronto teams.

And as much as I love baseball, it can be a pussy sport at times. If someone throws at your player, you should be able to throw back at someone without getting a ridiculous suspension like Clemens was hit with today.

I have watched at least 50-60 Yankee games on TV consistently since the 2003 season when Rogers cable here offered the baseball package. I have never, ever heard any announcer from any team other than Toronto insinuate that the Yankees are favoured by both umpires and MLB itself...not even from the Red Sox NESN commentators (who actually call very good games are NOT biased homers).

Anybody have an opinion on this matter? I was fucking fuming at the TV yesterday when I heard those two fucks go on about it.

you live in Germany. Why do you even watch baseball, much less cheer for the Mets?

There are Yankee fans everywhere in the United States and Canada. You aren't forced to cheer for you the team that is closest to you geographically. Besides, when my grandfather emigrated from England to Canada 50 years ago, he rooted for the Yankees (for obvious reasons at the time). That was passed on to my dad and I grew up watching them on TV and in Detroit, New York and Toronto as a kid.

You know...not everybody in Ontario cheers for the Leafs in hockey either. There are endless Montreal, Red Wings, Rangers, Bruins, Oilers fans here. In fact, many Ontarians CANNOT STAND the Toronto Maple Leafs. The same applies to Baseball. It's kind of like a German or a Dutchman being a Manchester United fan...in other words, it happens all the time.

Actually, there are Yankees fans over the world. I've seen Yankees hats in England. I've also seen one sports store in Dublin on Henry street sell a vast array of Yankees gear. In Taipei, I saw Chien Ming Wang's face EVERYWHERE. Tokyo has a number of Yankee fans because of the Yomiuri Giants/Hideki Matsui connection.

Just what I've personally observed
