Well, well, well. My first LOL. And boy was it a memorable one. What an event to take in. Even the parking lot/tent had all these random things going on. It felt like I was at the circus. Cotton candy or a candy apple anyone?

I got in around 11:30 and went to SkyBar to meet up with some friends. From there, I spent some time hearing Jakes (aka Aristotle - who should just switch to house) in The Orange Room before going to KH for AvB. First time seeing this guy and I must say, I really enjoyed the tunes. LOVED the stage setup. Guv really goes all out for decorations and it is muchly appreciated. I'd definitely see him again live. Just when I didn't think it could get better.. it did. SVD was awesome! The tunes just got better and better and better. KH was my home for 4 hours and I loved it. My only complaint was that he didn't play "King of My Castle". I thought for sure he would, so it was kind of disappointing.

After SVD finished, I went to check out Sydney Blu in the Orange Room. I'm really starting to like this room. Great sound and the light show isn't too bad either. Obviously it's no guv/kh, but that doesn't mean it sucks. It's a real shame that the room is wasted on Top40 on Saturday nights.

At around 6/630, I decided to watch Deko-Ze close down SkyBar. Boy, oh boy, what a set. First time hearing Faxing Berlin on a system better than my computer and it sounded awesome. Deadmau5 was all over the place. I recall hearing his Daft Punk remix at least twice.. in fact I heard a lot of songs twice. And what an amazing tune to end SkyBar with... it completely threw me off guard. For those who weren't there, just check out the video . PS-Please mind the shaky camera work.

Nothing beats SkyBar at sunrise. The temperature was perfect. The vibe is simply too good. If only it were somehow open year round.. hmmm..

Finished my night off with Danny T from 745-915.

I completely agree. Every track was just raw, stripped down beats. I loved every minute of it. Leaving to go to CZ was honestly one of the hardest things to do.

I'll definitely be hitting up LOL next year, as this one was fantastic. I was going in with the mindset that it was going to way too busy and there'd be lineups to get in almost every room (from stories I heard last year), but I was really surprised. The only problem I had was getting into KH from Orange Room one time. After that, I used Gallery, which had no problems at all. Also, I was soo disappointed that they weren't using the lasers in guv. Does anyone know why this was? I heard that Danny can be a really picky guy and maybe he's not a fan of them. I was hyping all the first timers I brought for "a laser show that will have you just staring" and they got nothing.

Still a little bummed that I missed it, but Marcus Schulz will make it up... I'm sure.

Curious though, did anyone else get sick after LoL? I heard from a group of friends that went up there that damn near everyone got sick when they left... and ironically, the same thing happened to my group back at Bennassi in July.

Anyone else...?

I could have gone to this but pretty much bailed at 6pm on my friends, although he got rid of my ticket fairly quick. I don't know why exactly, but my desire to hit these huge parties is practically non existent since I last saw Tiesto trainwreck his way through a "set" last December. The crowd isn't the same, the music certainly isn't the same, the pills aren't the same....it's just all so "bleh" to me these days. I had more fun staying in London with my closest friends chilling at our usual place.

Wow, that sounds really negative! The magic is pretty much gone on my end of things though, as much as I hate to admit. Anyone else have a recent revelation that their partying days are coming to and or slowing down? I used to get so excited for events like LoL but haven't gone in 2 years.

I still would have liked to see SvD and Yahel...couldn't care less if I ever saw Armin ever again though.

I was spent after this LOL
Overall I give this LOL a 7/10
Not as busy and lots of room to dance
I miss Ferry

Armin made it a good night...and the moment he dropped Vincent de Moor's "Fly Away"...my heart skipped a beat back to good times
Ditto for Perpetuos Dreamer

Vinyl Junkies own my ass...really. Val C knows it too. Dat's all I'm sayin

Didn't get to hear Sander or Yahel...and I'm kinda sad about that. I kept losing the people I came with. I swear I spent most of the better night looking for them...and using up both my cells & their batteries. Sheesh

Finally got to the guv...for Danny T and it was good...but I've heard him do better. Not putting this set down...just sayin it like it is.
Luv'd it when he dropped The R.E.M. Losing my religion remix. Nicee!
When he dropped It's Love Trippin by Goldtrix Feat Andrea Brown...I swear danny and I were psychically connected. 2 wks ago I found an old cd and had been playin this song over and over again...dats just freaky
The Greatest words to come out of Danny T's lips...."bring back vinyl"....some things are just meant to be...and vinyl is it.

Wrong track for this night... Toto's Africa. It's a good song and great to reminisce but not to this at an electronic event. BPM were too slow. If you want to do that...then do a remix and bring that track to life again. I Suggest a faster remix of Heaven's "Let me Go". Just my two cents for what it's worth.

Wanted to hear MSTRKRFT...but since everyone in my group kept getting lost...I couldn't. Will have to make a point of catchin them next time

My only beef.....one girl who thought she could take up 5 dancing spaces at Armin's set. WTF Good thing Fayaree...was there cuz I was gonna belt her one if she hit me and stepped on me again. Lamest excuse of the night...we came here to dance. Ya well...you can dance like everyone else or move to a different spot with less traffic...just respect those around you....dats all I'm sayin

I stayed as usual...till the end of the night. Left at 10:38
Shout out to the NYC peeps that were there. Now i got double the reason to go back home

Things I've been Missing from back home:
Macy's shopping. Dunno why..I just remember that store the most.
Skating at Rockefeller Center (do they still allow it?)
Radio City Music Hall
The F train to Coney I....Dahem those Hot Dogs...mmmmm yummy
A Real New York Pizza (Not the same here)
Pineapple Ices in my hood...best stuff ever
AND MOST OF ALL....The people of New York City...mi familia de nueva yor

Cheers,
Patricia

I was having the same problem but in the main room......some shirtless bafoon that was standing beside me kept chanting "titsnaglia" over and over and over again. it was so annoying.

Bahaha. Interesting reviews from this party though. Quite surprised to hear how empty it was!

I am completely with you....I was going to go but then last minute realized I had no interest in actually going.....I stayed home and listened to tunes and chilled with my GF. Most parties seem to feel "bleh" to me lately......you said it best when you say the magic is gone.....I can't think of a better way to describe partying these days.
