My Sunday comprised of basically stuffing my face, and I mean literally, since I spent my day at the rents eating turkey all day. I'm having more of the stuffing with my turkey for lunch today, and anticipate eating more leftovers over the next couple of days. So I looked forward to burning it all off at night.
I got through the doors at 11:15 with Cribby and Sketchbag, and started reading the set card and saw Deadmau5 already started his set in the Orange Room... so I made a beeline there. Seeing his set was the foremost reason I went as I've seen all of the other DJs spin over the years. I burned a CD with 12 of my deamau5 faves to play in the car for the ride down, so I was pumped!
I went in, to a fair crowd around the outside of the room, and a few dancing. I'm a little shy to have the spotlight on me where there's only a few on the dancefloor, but I could not get my legs to stop moving, and they have involuntarily migrated my body to the middle to many's chagrin of seeing my spazzy legs at work. EvilTree seemed to be blown away as well as his review pointed out. Within minutes, the floor was packed with still room dance frerely.
Deadmau5's set was pretty much what most of you have missed during Deadmau5's TA StickCam night last week. I wish I was able to record that set. What I really appreciated was that Deadmau5 played his own tracks and remixes during his whole set. I am so glad his music wasn't watered down with some random tracks.
He played my faves, ARGURU!!!!!, Faxing Berlin, Dark Beat!, Not Exactly, and the Reward is Cheese! No sign of his Mellefresh tracks however. Perhaps it's too early in the night for these sexy songs, or maybe an image thing for now... we'll see.
I saw Barbina from a short distance and as I approched my eyes did not deceive me. Great to meet this energetic TA, we got along well, ended up my partner in crime too for the night, and ended up introducing her to at least half of all TAs who were there. I ran into just about every TA in the roll call, and many who I haven't met yet. Cheers to you all! Barb, sorry for being a coq tease with your friends, lol. Has 10 minutes passed yet? *squeeze*
Great meeting you after your set Joel. You wasted my dancing legs in the first 2 hours of my big dancing night, but I obviously enjoyed every minute of it, I can't pace myself for a long guv night when you open the night! Looking forward to seeing you out again.
