Manny Ramirez is such a wanker.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb

Ramirez's complaints offend Henry
Owner says front office has been "completely straightforward"

quote:

BOSTON -- Red Sox principal owner John W. Henry said he was offended by recent public comments by Manny Ramirez, in which the star slugger suggested that the team's front office and ownership hasn't been straightforward with him regarding his future. The Red Sox hold $20 million options on Ramirez for 2009 and 2010 and have until November to decide whether to pick up the first one.
"I want to know what's my situation," Ramirez told the Boston Herald on Wednesday. "I want no more [times] where they tell you one thing and behind your back they do another thing. I think I've earned that respect, for a team to sit down with me and tell me this is what we want, this is what we want to do."

In Thursday's Boston Herald, Henry made it clear how upset he was by what Ramirez said.

"I find remarks that we have been anything other than completely straightforward to be personally offensive," Henry wrote in an e-mail to the Herald. "Manny has been a crucial part of two World [Series] championships. I do not believe we would have won either without him. He has never played a more important role than he has thus far this year."

Ramirez is hitting .293 with 18 homers and 60 RBIs.

Since the start of Spring Training, Ramirez has expressed a desire to finish his career in Boston.

"To be honest with you, I don't know, I want to stay in Boston, but I want to sit down after the season with ownership and see what my future is going to be in Boston," Ramirez told the Herald. "Let's see, but the ball is in my court. If they don't pick it up, I'm a free agent and I'll go play somewhere else. We'll see."

While the 36-year-old Ramirez is having yet another terrific season in his eighth and final season in Boston, he has been involved in a couple of controversial situations.

In a June 5 victory against the Rays, Ramirez was caught on camera taking a swing at teammate Kevin Youkilis in the dugout.

Then, there was the incident on June 28, when Ramirez reportedly pushed team traveling secretary Jack McCormick to the clubhouse floor following a spat over a ticket request. It isn't known if Ramirez was disciplined for the incident with McCormick, as the Red Sox prefer to keep such situations in-house.

By November, Ramirez will know if he'll be back in Boston in 2009. The article with the Herald was the first time Ramirez expressed any stress over the matter.

"It's not to protect myself," Ramirez said of wanting a meeting with ownership. "I just want to know what my future is going to be. I just want them to tell me, 'We're going to take it year by year,' or, 'We're going to do this.' That's fine. Just so I know what's going on with my situation."

The Red Sox aren't likely to make any decisions about Ramirez's option until the season is over.

I love Manny. Of all the baseball players I've grown up watching, he will be the one I talk about most to my kids and grandkids.

Have you even considered buying tickets for the last game at Yankee Stadium for a decent price? Well, you never had a chance. Bleacher seats for $300? Maybe.

Tickets gone for last game at Stadium
By DAVE GOLDINER

The last regular season game at Yankee Stadium is sold out.

Fans scooped up a few thousand tickets online in just 11 minutes Wednesday.

Scalpers quickly started hawking tickets for the historic Sept. 21 game against the Baltimore Orioles, with top seats going for a head-spinning $17,000 a pop.

Even the cheapest bleachers seats at the House that Ruth Built were going for $165 online.

A Yankees spokesman said there just weren't enough tickets for all the fans who want to see the last regular season game at the storied ballpark, which opened in 1923.

"This day won't happen ever again," said Jason Zillo. "It's going to be a celebration."

About three-quarters of the 56,000 seats were spoken for by season ticket holders and owners of ticket plans that included the game.

A few thousand additional tickets went on sale Tuesday to one group of partial ticket plan holders. Those tickets went fast and owners of a different ticket plan scooped up the last remaining tickets yesterday.

With the historic game officially sold out, the action then shifted online where ticket holders tried to hawk them.

Some fans were asking more than $300 for bleacher seats with a face value of $14. Seats next to the on-deck circle were going for up to $10,000.

The Sept. 21 game would be the final contest at the Stadium if the Bombers fail to make the playoffs. There is also a chance that a rained-out game could be made up afterward.

Here come the Yankees....

Solid hitting, both great starting pitching and an unstoppable bullpen lately, a fucking steal of a trade today (Nagy and Martes of the Pirates for four minor leaguers), the Yankees are only two games back of the Red Sox, three of the Rays and have won seven in a row.

Here they come....

is the AL West race over? the angels look pretty solid. it's always funny how no one in the media pays any attention to the teams out west.

I find the west divisions to be highly uninteresting. I dont mind the A's, but the Angels, Mariners and Rangers? Are you fucking kidding me? Loser teams.

which one those teams have had the most playoff success this decade? i'll give you a hint, it's not the A's. they haven't been interesting to watch since larussa left. i like the way the angels are run and you can't deny the power of the rally monkey.

I feel the same way. If my friend didn't tell me today, I wouldn't have been able to tell you who was in first in the AL West. And I have no idea who is in first in the NL West. And I LOVE baseball. The West teams are just so boring to me... except the A's.

I think this is the first time I agreed with you, Smitty.

The A's have a good history and I respect their organisation for the talent they produce. I don't like the Angels since they've put the Yankees out of the playoffs 3 times since 2002. And I HATE K Rod and his fist pumps to God.

But hasn't baseball always been more of an east coast sport? Not lately, but western expansion is like what...only 40 years old right?

50 actually.

I do find the Angels and the A's interesting nonetheless even though I find the rest of the AL and NL West boring this year.

I find the Angels interesting because of their owner Artie Moreno and the way he runs the organization.

The A's will always be interesting because of Billy Beane.
