I don't recommend the Hitchens book at all. I found it very dull.. It's mainly quotes, old articles, and tales of the ridiculous stuff people have said/done related to religion in the past. I think everyone knows by now that it has resulted in millions of deaths and held back human progress. That's common knowledge and the Hitchens book is just a dry historical account. If you want a more thoughtful book on the subject..something putting forth solid arguments in favor of reason and against the religious/mystical mindset, check out The God Delusion instead.
