I'd like to see what tunes are in this mix before I listen to it, thanks. If you really want to ID all the tunes yourself, just don't visit the thread until you listen to the set, then check afterwards.

Thanks, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to see the tracklist before downloading, seeing as we're dealing with a genre where there's such a high risk of ending up with the same old tunes everyone already knows.

So far I have 3, 5, 8, 10, 11, 12. I should know 1 and 2 though as well.

As for a review, a pretty enjoyable set. It's always nice to have a few tracks in there that I haven't heard before. Mixing was good enough, but not perfect (some key clashes, one or two abrupt transitions, beats drifted a small amount at times, etc.). Still an enjoyable set though. Thanks for sharing.

I can add 1 to that. It's a fave of mine

I'm in the middle of typing it up right now

I know the mix wasn't perfect, but this is one of those situations where I'm going to be extremely busy soon and wanted to get this out of the way and unfortunately didn't have time for a ton of different attempts. As it goes, there is only one transition I'm not happy with personally, so hopefully people don't find that too aggravating.

I tried not to use too many well known songs, though I'm sure you've probably (though maybe not) heard all of the songs at least once or twice, Jan. Definitely a couple well known anthems, but I tried to keep most of them to the less well-known stuff.

Just listened to your mix, Grant. Really, really loved it! I actually hadn't heard a single song other than the DJ Shadow ones, surprisingly. Most my trip-hop I've heard has been through Stu and he had neglected to inform me about all of this awesomeness Definitely going to be keeping that one on my hard drive and iPod. That's two in a row from you I've enjoyed a ton. I still listen to the Acid House mix of yours from last contest. Enjoyed this a ton and will definitely be looking deeper into the genre

Jan, listening to your mix right now. Fucking beautiful. Only about 15 minutes in, but this is just perfect. Beautiful melodies, brilliant atmosphere, nicely chilled. Looking forward to the rest of the mix. Can already tell this one will be on my iPod for a long time as well

Thanks Joe for the positive feedback. Didn't Stu mention household names like Massive Attack or Portishead? Shame on him if not.
Glad you've enjoyed it mate, there's a lot of good stuff in this genre and it's well worth digging for.
I've grabbed your mix and put it on my phone. I'm about to go for a drive and it's gonna be the soundtrack this afternoon. I'm actually looking forward to hearing how you went about this mix as you have rather exceptional taste in trance. I'll be reporting back later.

Alrighty, well here is my psytrance mix. I had a lot of trouble with this genre, namely the song structure making things difficult (lots of ambient intros and outros, little in the way of starting/ending beats)... so there's a lot of ambient fades and quick crossfader slams. Did some research and found a few songs I liked a lot... there was one song that just HAD to be on due to the name. Ahhh well, would be interested in any comments, especially from the psy diehards on this board. Keep in mind, I'm a house guy and this is my first time ever mixing this genre.

-Jaia - Mai Mai
-Ace Ventura - Exposed (Liquid Soul Remix)
-Neelix - Contact
-Ticon - Chicken Shaker
-Son Kite - Game & Watch
-Silicon Sound - Pure Reality (Ephedrix Mix)
-Ephedrix - Prototype (Chichke & Multitech Mix)
-1200 Micrograms - God of Rock
-Wizzy Noise - Behemoth

Massive Attack are only my favourite electronic artists Pretty sure I would have mentioned them.

Uplifting Trance Genre Challenge Mix by TALews

I tried to make it all uplifting, but undoubtedly every song probably isn't lol. I think it's a pretty uplifting set, though

Hopefully it's enjoyable, though

I'll post tracklist in a little bit.

You've pulled this off really, really nicely mate. Very enjoyable. Not only have you played a lot of great tunes that I haven't heard for a long time, bringing back some great memories of a lot of my early raving experiences, you've again managed to deliver some great trance tunes that I'm not familiar with so thanks.
I knew you would avoid the epic/uplifting trance of recent years which I can fully understand and appreciate although I have to say I'd love to hear some recent trance tracks that are also up to the standards of the music from the late 90's era, but that is a bit of a rarity now isn't it.
Technically this mix was smooth apart from the one shaky mix you mentioned. I absolutely loved how you mixed in No Hesitation and the mix around 33/34 mins was stellar, smooth as fuck. There was a nice range of diversity with the tracks here too and yet managed to keep a nice feel good uplifting vibe. I can't really add much more here, I'm really impressed.
I'm kind of happy you didn't post the tracklist actually, I think it would add a great dimension to this challenge if those who suggested a genre then had to ID the submitted mix's tracklist. I've managed to ID maybe half of the tracks you dropped here, so I'd like to see the whole tracklist at some stage too.
I'll be giving this mix many more listens mate.

I thought you were a big fan and that would have been strange not giving them a mention. Daydreaming was one of their very early releases under the Massive Attack name though.

Oh come on now, people are having enough trouble just delivering a mix as it is. Adding another requirement will be absolutely pointless at this stage.

Frankly I can't see how this would affect weather or not someone is going to deliver a mix.

I'm just saying that there's no need to make this even more of an effort than what it already quite clearly is. Besides, I don't want to be forced to listen to a mix, even if it's with a genre that I entered myself.
