Oh the ACLU, because they never cry about things that don't infringe on civil liberties at all. How do you not grasp the concept that everything you do on your phone, on your computer, etc. is stored somewhere. That is NOT your property, it belongs to your ISP or your cell phone provider. With a subpoena, ANY law enforcement agency, not just "the administration" can access that information.
Jesus fuck how is this so incredibly difficult for people to understand. Seriously, just read an article about what's ACTUALLY happening here. The information was obtained by COURT ORDER. There's no fucking secret NSA operation to listen in on all of your phone calls. In fact, the NSA didn't even gather the information, it was fucking given to them by Verizon, Google, etc.

Why can't people read? One issue is the granting of general warrants which the fourth amendment proscribes. Check. |
| quote: | | The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. |
The ToS on most of the websites involved in this issue all basically say that, by signing up, anything you do on their website is their property. Facebook owns your status updates, your messages, your photos, and so on and so forth. Anything they request in the warrant is not your property. You have no say in the matter. Not only that, but if you did your research, you'd know that the warrants you're talking about aren't necessarily unconstitutional.
Granted, data laws need to be reassessed to "keep up with the times", but those warrants are still OK by law.
