yeah, exactly! I made my gf promise to spend at least an hour mixing, and she did it, now she has a better understanding. The funniest part was when she had the two tracks going together, volumes the same, but the bass down on one.
I said, "OK, when the beat changes, turn this bass knob down, and this one up", and she did it, right at the perfect time too. Only thing was, she turned them ALL THE WAY, and on my mixer where the bass frequency is very wide, it just about blew the speakers!
oh well, at least she grasps what it is that i am doing now. she gives me tips too, like "Don't let the vocals play overtop of another song" good one right there!

this thread has officially been hi jacked
personally, theres no point in teaching ur girl to mix unless she has the initiative to. if that isnt the case, she would only be abiding n listening to u because it makes you happy, and if thats the case, whats the point. "mojo turn on", down to zilch. part of the irresistability is the passion for the music, and taking that passion to another level to want to create music, mix music and share it. or it could just be the headphones on a girl *shrug* i'm attracted to tomboysih qualities. oh man, baseball caps on some girls *drool*. anyway, i digress. i also dont think i'd like to have a gf who's as fanatical about trance. i think i'd prefer if she was passionate about another genre. in that way, ur eyes will be opened to a better appreciation of say, that genre, through her. and coming to a common ground with both thru djing, i'm sure thru that, u'll learn a shit load more skills and develop interesting mixing ideas!
now, did that make sense?
edit:
caps n bandannas *yum*

That's me in the corner, That's me in the spotlight, I'm Losing my religion, Trying to keep up with you ,And I don't know if I can do it, Oh no, I've said too much,I haven't said enough, I thought that I heard you laughing, I thought that I heard you sing, I think I thought I saw you try.
But that was just a dream, That was just a dream, But that was just a dream, Try, cry, why try? That was just a dream ,Just a dream, just a dream, Dream
