Single malt is made using only malted barley and aged in oak for a minimum of about 3-4years or so, the vatted, blended and so on types are kind of like the VB of the spirits world, they can be kind of nasty

so new years coming up, will buy a few and wait til december then put them up

Wouldn't surprise me if there where a few people these days doing that, grabbing a selection of several popular events would be the best way of doing it to lessen risks.

Run it the same as a mutual fund which will have a fair bit of risk tolerance.
So, rather than go 'lump' all your tickets into one pot so to speak, buy a couple for various events, bands, DJ's and so on which will mean that if the show gets cancelled or even if it just fails to sell then you're not completely boned.

well the event im thinking about doing usually sells out fairly quickly every year.....its muzzadayze lots of them around these parts of oz

Just also be aware that they're thinking of cracking down on scalping last I remember hearing on the news some time ago where they may have been able to cancel tickets sold on by a 3rd party.
