First of all, everyone knows and should be able to admit that the Red Sox are not this bad. We all know that. But they have been playing shitty and the Yankees have been playing good and that's why the results have been so lopsided.

But the main reason I am replying is for the Manny Ramirez bad baserunning comment. If you're talking about trying to go from 1st to 3rd in the first inning off of Ortiz' hit... I think that was the best baserunning I've seen all series from either team. The Sox haven't been scoring runs all series, they have to try and make things happen in that case. And what was he out by? An inch? He was so close to making it. If he had been safe, it would've been hailed as 'great baserunning' by the announcers, but because he was out, it was bad baserunning.

actually he was safe. it was a close play and i dont fault the call. after watching several replays it was evident that the tag was high and he was in there safe. i agree with you on the needing to make things happen.

Yeah, I saw the first replay where he looked way safe. I started screaming at my family (Yankee fans) who were saying it was a dumb baserunning play. Then I went to go get another beer (because I figured it'd be another one of those games) and when I came back they all said the replay's showed he was out.

it would. every year its the same story. yankees spending butt loads of money to get anyone they want and not worrying about having to make the playoffs or get to the world series pretty much. in my eyes this looks more like a buisness and less like a sport. i am sure yankee fans will disagree but for the rest of us that like the game of baseball and teams other than the yankees, this just gets annoying year after year.

someone made a point about fox being very anti yankees a few days ago. i think that it is pretty much everyone outside of this huge yankee fan base that is sick and tired of this dynasty and is ready for this to come to an end. when this will happen i have no idea. maybe when stienbrenner relinquishes control of the team or something. what i wouldnt give for the 80's to be back again where yankee fans would appreciate just making the playoffs and not expect it every year.

as for this series, boston has been flat out dominated in just about every aspect of the game. curse or whatever, something has to change and i am glad that i dont live up in new england. god this must be depressing for them.

ok i understand they were tryin to make somthin out and even if he was safe it was still dumb as soon as manny rounded second sheffield had the ball and manny is no track star he should have realized that the tieing run is commin to the plate
if he would have been safe at 3rd or was on second if the next hitter got a base hit he was gonna score either way
theres no way ortiz was gonna score from 1st on a base hit hes slowwer then manny

with two outs, down 3 runs? no i don't think u go for third on that one regardless. a hit from the next batter SHOULD have scored manny easily (and i never knew manny had wheels, seems he's got a rocket pack on this series). yeah the announcers, we've already established are dumb shit, and i don't pay attention to them much anyway. you never ever make the third out at third base. i think baseball players are taught that at an early age. give sheffield credit for coming up firing in right field. maybe i should watch the game by muting fox, and listening to jon miller/joe morgan on espn radio

It's hard for me to say since I've been a Yankee fan since I was 8 (1984) and now expect the World Series every year. I remember in 1996 and how great that win was, easily the best of them all since they weren't expecting it then.

But I know the other side with the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Cowboys, and even the Pats now. I hated the Bulls so freaking much and would root for everybody against them. I still respected them but hated them. The Yankees though is different with the huge salary difference. I have no argument for that because it's true. Except that money alone doesn't buy championships - Marlins, Angels, Diamondbacks. It just covers up a lot of mistakes. Jose Contreres blows and you spent 32 million... who cares.. just wait for the next guy and try again.

It would be nice if the Yankees had more homegrown talent like they did back in 96'.

The only hope you have is that the Yankees farm system remains shitty and they can't go get Randy Johnson like they couldn't this year and it eventually catches up to them. I don't think a bunch of free agents is gonna work all the time. Take out Jeter, Bernie, Posada, Rivera and .... it wouldn't add up I think.

Still for this series, the Red Sox have no excuse for their extremely horrible pitching/defense/baserunning.
