just outta curiosity does the place have their own speakers with a soundboard and all, or is the setup all up to us? if its up to us do we have a soundboard or is it just gunna be an amp -> speakers? just trying to figure out what our output situation is like.
just as a backup, someone else should bring a laptop with them... from my experience with field recordings over the years it never hurts to have a backup recording source *just in case* i have an "INport" that goes 2xRCA -> USB 2.0 for stereo recording and i'll bring that. i would use my lappy but my USB hub on my laptop is broken so i can't use the INport, only my line in (recording sounds a lot better with the INport) but i will bring my laptop anyways in case no one else has one available. you would only need about 1 GB free so we can record the night in a decent bitrate mp3 as backup. then i can use my mono line in for a crowd mic, if conditions permit
...and no, not to record crickets chirping lol. if that happens, i will just re-mix the feed with a "sounds of nature" disc, part 1 - summer night (crickets + cicadas). i think people would get the point |
I'm paying a guy to provide the PA/monitors, amps, etc. He will be there around 1pm on Saturday to set everything up. Joel should also be there setting up his lighting rig.
