I could go on, but you'll notice a lack of trance as such there, mainly because it's so easy to mix & there's so little effort that goes in at times, The dj's of other styles do a great job & don't all get the plaudits they deserve, there's people who've been on the circuit for 20 years & still get enough of a buzz from the music to carry on, whether they have a weekly radio show or not. |
See the problem is, I only know 11 of the above, so while they may be great technical DJs, their inability to get exposure to me renders it impossible for me to vote for them. And it's not like I don't go out of my way to listen to new styles, sounds, and DJs. I live in New York City, so if I haven't heard of half of these DJs, it's unlikely that most people in the US have, because honestly, if a DJ comes to the US, they usually stop in NYC.
While we, as music lovers, have to go out of our way to find great music to listen to, it's not all on our shoulders. I don't care how good someone is if they don't put in the effort to share their ability. There could be some bedroom DJs who spin for fun that are better than everyone that you listed, but who cares if they don't put their talent out there to be easily enjoyed. Finding good music shouldn't be similar to finding the Holy Grail. That's one reason why people like Armin, PvD, Tiesto, etc. is because they market the shit out of their stuff, and some of it is good.
BTW, of the ones that I know on that list, I agree, they are great DJs.
